The second graders have completed their 2nd Writing Unit  which had the students studying the writing of author Kevin Henkes. The students used his books as examples to understand character development and how dialougue reveals the thoughts and feelings of characters. They also used his stories to assist in their own writing with building suspense, producing strong leads, and finishing with a good ending. They analyzed some of the characters in Kevin Henkes’ books and found that they were able to see themselves in many of his most famous characters.  Listen as the studens explain who they really related to and why!
