2011 top pick in the Roughrider CFL draft, Craig Butler, notes he is becoming more and more at home as the days pass at the three day rookie camp in Mosaic Stadium. On Thursday, day 2 of Rider rookie camp, Butler says ‘he is just picking up the pace of things.’ Coach Greg Marshall agrees with Butler speaking his mind. “He is not disappointed with Butler’s performance. He’s a good football player, that’s why we picked him.” So far, his future career is looking good and he may have a permanent place in a green Rider jersey.

You swing your feet over your bed and realize you finally got your indoor pool installed. In Fort Qu’Appelle water has completely submerged most roads, highways and homes. Usually, for this time of year, flowerbeds, pots and plants are being regrown, or dug out of the shed. But instead sandbags take their place, trying to block out the water in order to preserve what is left of people’s homes. Flooding has become extreme, especially in these areas. Last Mountain Lake, Echo, Mission, Pasqua, Katepwa, Crooked and Round Lakes.

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

It was an act of love. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mallark were just two friends before the Hunger Games. But in order to survive they had to block out the troubles of the arena and attempt to make their ‘love’ work. But in the Hunger Games there is only one winner. One person, who outwitted, outplayed and outlasted the other tributes that were forced to kill others in order to save themselves. That is the aim of the Hunger Games. But Katniss Everdeen takes things too far when her and Peeta are the only two players left in the arena. She threatens the game wardens with suicide. But they outsmart her. Will it end with love and lust or betrayal and death?

I can connect to Peeta because I have watched movies and read books where people love one person so much that they would die for them.

I think the book is a little bit morbid because it has a lot to do with death, killing and fatal decisions. That is practically the main point of the book. I also think the author uses more $100 words than $10 words like when she writes “Brutal bloody Cato who would snap a neck with the twist of his arm, who had the power to overcome Thresh, who has had it out for me since the beginning.” On page 232.

I think the author wrote this book just to tell a story, for the love of writing maybe.

In the next book I think Katniss will have to train the new tributes. I think that because in Hunger Games it mentions her training new players every year for the rest of her capable life.

Will Katniss and Peeta ever actually be in love? When? Why doesn’t Katniss just run away and never come back? She talks about doing it all the time.

I really liked this book and am looking forward to reading the next books in the trilogy.

Screams erupted from the stadium as the yellow rock slid down the ice and settled into the centre ring. The volume was especially loud in a certain part of the Brandt Centre. Section two-eighteen row four, five and six. The grade 7/8 class of Montmartre school participated in the 2011 Men’s Curling World Championships on Wednesday April 6th. We cheered loud and gave Canada a good reason to smile as we stretched our legs and squealed loudly. Luckily, our method worked wonderfully as Canada defeated the Czech Republic nine to four.

Our class also traveled to the Science Centre and browsed around all of their educational exhibits. After that we took our seats in the IMAX theatre where the movie Wild Ocean was playing. Overall it was a wonderful experience for my classmates and I.

Trees smash to the ground, cars are blanketed in dust, and people are fighting for their lives. On March 10, 2011 a large earthquake, 8.9 on the Richter scale, struck Japan. Uncontrollable shockwaves flew through the country, water crashed through the land ripping apart what is left of the cities, towns and farms. Japan is left a world of destruction and panic.

Japan has been affected majorly. Aftershocks are still waiting as the devastated humans find cover. To follow the earthquake, a tsunami hit causing another path for new tears, horror and frustration. The people who were currently homing in Japan are affected quite majorly. Pieces of their homes, valuables and lives are washing up onto shores. Loved ones are nowhere to be found. And scientists say the quake was the fifth largest in the world since 1900.

And to make matters worse Fukushima’s nuclear power plant was rocked by the powerful quake. The nuclear reactors were shut down and control rods were activated to prevent nuclear reactions that create power. Power was shut off in the tsunami so the reactor cooling systems, that stop fuel from reaching unsafe temperatures, failed causing water to stop circulating and start to boil. Steam rose to the fuel rods that are now exposed to air. That causes it to heat further, now the zirconium alloy casings have melted from the always rising heat. The casings mixed with the steam creating a type of hydrogen gas. Suddenly it exploded uncontrollably ripping off the roof of the outer building; they are finding ways to discontinue more explosions due to the plant.

Fires breakout and destroy what is left of the cities.

10,000 lives are completely gone and officers are still awaiting larger numbers. Families search for comfort and loved ones. The only thing that they have left is hope.
