Hello everyone.

Please copy and paste the beginning and end to the Midnight Pilot story to a new post on your own blog page.  Don’t forget to edit the beginning and the end.  You need to take out the ‘he’s and put ‘she’s if your main character is a girl.  You also have to type your character’s name in all the spaces that used to be “Matthew”.  You also have to take out some parts if it doesn’t match the part of the story you wrote.  When that is all done, please type your own story in between the beginning and end of the original story.  Don’t forget to ‘SAVE AS DRAFT’ if you don’t finish it today.  When they are finished, edited, and posted on our blog, we can copy and paste the whole story onto a Word Document, make them look nice, and then print them.

Copy and Paste this stuff below…

One evening after supper, (name)___ put on his / her pilot goggles and went out to play with his / her new glider plane.  He tested the wind, then he / she  snapped in the wings, and drew back the band on his / her sling-shot launcher.  He closed one eye so his / her aim would be true, and let the glider fly.

“Pilot to tower, clear the runway, we’re coming in!”  __(name)____ called.

The landing didn’t go too well.  The glider missed the airport completely and ended up high in a tree.

“Tower to pilot, tower to pilot.  It’s time to come in and get ready for bed,”  ___(name)___ ‘s mother called from the porch.

“But my glider’s caught,”  ___(name)___ explained.

“It’ll come down eventually,”  his / her mother said, as they went inside.

Just before he / she got into bed, ___(name)___ felt hungry.  He/ She looked around in his secret hideout under the bed until he / she found some candy hearts, an old popcorn ball, and most of a taffy apple.

___(name)___! What are you doing?”  his / her moth said when she came in.

They talked for a while about food in bed, and in the end ___(name)___ had to admit that his / her hands were so sticky they’d stick to the sheets.  He / She went to the washroom to wash them clean, and he brushed his / her teeth again, too.  When he / she returned, his / her mother was looking out the window.

“I hope the courier comes tonight and delivers my files,” she sighed.  “I have some work to do this weekend.”

“Maybe they got stuck somewhere, just like my glider,” ___(name)___ suggested.

“The wind will blow your glider down,” his mother told him / her.

“What if it isn’t windy tonight?”  ___(name)____ asked.

“Don’t worry,” she said.  “The wind is coming.”

She kissed him / her goodnight and turned off the light.  Matthew closed his eyes and listened for the wind.

Around about midnight, ___(name)___ woke up.  He heard the sound of the wind outside blowing through the branches.  He / She got up to have a look.  He / She saw that his / her plane was still in the tree, but it wasn’t the only thing in the tree.

…………………………………………Insert the middle of the story here  ………….…………………………………………….

___(Name)___ climbed into bed and closed his / her eyes.  Soon he / she was fast asleep.

It was very late, almost quarter to eight, when ___(name)___ woke up the next day.

“Time to get up,” his / her mother told him / her, as she shook his / her foot.

___(Name)___ ran to the window.  “My plane!” he / she exclaimed.  “It’s there in the garden!”

“I knew the wind would blow it down,” his / her mother said.

___(Name)___ laughed and got dressed in a flash, then he / she dashed straight down to the yard.  His / her mother followed a little more slowly.  When she arrived, she was pleasantly surprised.  Her package was there just outside the front door.

Hey everyone!

Your comments to each other are starting to get better.  I hope you don’t just say, “good job”, or “nice”.  It’s not enough information for the other students.  What EXACTLY is a good job, or nice?  Now, let’s make sure we are spelling each others’ names correctly!!

Mohamad, Talha, Mosa, Mostapha, Sajida, Gadah, Khadeejah, Ali, Danial, Mona, Lorin, Aliza, Celina, Ayatt, Tarek, Aimen

It would be very respectful to learn how to spell your classmates’ names!

Thanks everyone!

I have been really enjoying Social Studies stations these days.

I really like learning about the different countries, and their cultures.

I hope we learn more about dancing in Tunisia.
