There, transport boats would be waiting to take them away.
summary:
President Andrew Jackson ordered the army if men to capture every Seminole in Florida. All the Seminoles were fighting to save his home and his land.Even the children were doing their part by cooking food for the warriors or storing weapons. General Clinch was replaced by General Edmund Gaines. When the army got to the Withlacoochee river they were surrounded by Seminoles. The army was unable to crass the river. So General Gaines sent a message to General Clinch saying to send troops immediately. A week went by and still no help was sent. The army was getting hungry. One day a man was sent to General Gaines camp from Osceola. Osceola wanted peace. General Gaines wanted peace to so he went to the council. Unfortunately Generals Clinch arrived at that moment with his troops. General Clinch and his army fought and there was no peace. Another General was called in to take command. The general’s name was General Scott. This season the Seminoles went hungry. Their was no time to grow crops. Sometimes the women and children would hide in swamps and go hung=ry for days, sometimes weeks. General Scott was called to Washington, and was replaced by General Call. Call acted quickly and used bloodhounds to search for the Seminoles. A lot of Call’s men died from snake and mosquito bites. Some of the Seminoles were bitten too. Osceola too was stricken.
Osceola did not talk lightly of war or of killing. He never forgot what his mother had taught him: Do not take a life unless your own is in danger. He knew too what war would mean for his people, the suffering it would bring. In war time they would have to leave thier chickees-thatcheed log houses-to live in the marshy, murky swamps.
