Mr. N's Class

As the soldiers reach their destination they settle down.Sarah wishes that she had a roof overhead.Finally Silver Coat,the dog,returns.He lays at the end of the blankets.Some of the goats eat their food.She tries to herd the sheep when Silver Coat runs away.The goats go wild and run. A soldier helps her up.Sarah makes a friend when the start to walk again.Her name is Sah-nee.On the Fourth day they reach the fort.They go in the fort for warmness.

Thesnow stops falling sometime in the day. As the day gets darker the soldier gets offof there horses and start to make a fire on the platuea. Sarah and Kalabia call for silver coat but he still does not come. The only water they have drink is the water they brought in their grouds.The slodiers pass out meat. The captin says to get in smal groups with a headman and cook the meat. Sarah’s grandfather tryed totell he captin tghat they don’t have headmen. The captin only told grandfather that he was the headman of the group.  In the group that Sarah is in is to more elders. We told each other our names and clansThe solfiers come around with meat and a drink to share. The captin says that the drink is called kaffi.

Now the  soldiers don’t like it if you stop. One time grandmother cursed a soldier for getting a elder keep going by rising his rifle. Then Kalabia cused a soldier for the samething. Sarah wants to curse to but she doesn’t because she knows it is wrong to curse. The wind got strounger blowing in every ones face. The wind slows everyone down. The soldiers let everyone stop to rest. They give out something that was white and hard  and the captin siad it was call bread. Sarah thinks it is not very good but she eats it any way. Every one is wondering were the beef is but no ones asks because they are scared. Sarah uses the bushes to calm her self. High jumper always stays behind Sarah guarding her and if a soldier comes up he will jump up to stop them from getting near them. Then the strange noise comes again and every one has to get up so they do and now the march to the place were the soldiers live.

When they reach the end of the  canyon there were more soldiers waiting for us. My sister looks forward and behind us then says there are five hands of soldiers. Sarah thinks that Kalabia is to trid to do math but she repeats five hands of soldiers. Then she explains that she counts to ten on her finger and then does that five more times that that equels five hands of soldiers and that there is more of them then us.They huddle together up the hill and there is no one talking. The only sound is the whistling wind, babies cring, and the sound of sheep hooves stamping on the ground

Kalabia calls for silver coat but he does not come. They both asks in their heads has a soldier stolen him or has he ran away. When Kalabia goes to find silver coat a soldier gets off of his horse and ran after her. When he brings her back Sarah has her fist ready to punch him  but she sees that the soldier is not hurting her she looks up at him and sees that his eyes are like mica at the bottom of the ocean so Sarah names him mica eyes. Sarah grabs her sister and gives her a little shake for scaring her. When we past their hogan grandmother asked if she can get her animals. Grandfather and High jumper open the corral gate  and gets the animals. Sarah’s grandfather said we have a lot of animals and we she guard them well because they might be our food on this long journey. Sarah and her family is close to the end of the canyon walls. Sarah’s grandfather ooks up at the skies with a worriedlook on his face. Sarah wonders if grandfather is as scared as her. Sarah worries about the family and how will they all make it and will they make it to the placae were the soldiers live.
