The Daisy Among the Roses
by Alan Ko
How scarlet all of these roses are
And how in a row they seem
But among the red headache of the conformed flowers
Lies but a single yellow daisy in a small hollow
Various people pass by the field
“How pretty are the flowers” they say
“And how ugly and hideous is that daisy”
After looking at the lone yellow petals of the daisy
Other people pass by it
“How rather conformed and unoriginal” they speak
“But how life giving is that daisy” once they look
Upon the radiance and sunshine color of the daisy
To me that daisy is brave
Standing alone, being different
When individuality is treated rashly
How happy it make me feel
