Grammar focus The Giver

The Grammar focus for this week is possesive pronouns. Three examples from The Giver are, ‘The Giver closed his eyes.’ His is the possesive pronoun. ’His voice flattered and trailed off.’ That was the secind example, and the possesive pronoun was also his. The third sentence is, ‘Numbly his hands fumbled for the rope.’ Also the possesive pronoun was his.

Comprehension The Giver

The comprehension focus for this week is compare and contrast. Two examples from The Giver are, ‘He saw nothing ahead except the endless ribbon of road unfolding in twisting narrow curves.’ That sentence was a metaphor different from a similie. The second sentence is, ‘And you, little guy, you’re only five pounds ten ounces. A shrimp!’ That sentence was also a metaphor. A metaphor is a comparison, but not using the words like or as.

Reading-Writing Challengers Literature Circles…

I would like each group that is reading the same book (Literature Circle) to start a blog. There they can talk (write or type) about their thoughts, predictions, questions, etc. about the book.
