Sea Otters

Sea otters have  water repellant fur that keeps them warm and dry. They are around 4 feet long and it can weigh around 65 pounds. Sea otters wrap themselves in kelp so that they are anchored to where they are when there are big waves. They can stay under water for 50 to 90 seconds. They spend most of their time floating on their backs. When the water temperature is cold they float on their backs and put their feet out of the water to lower heat loss. When they are hot they keep their feet under water and spread them out to cool off. They spend most of their time floating on their backs Sea otters live for about 10 to 12 years. sometimes sea otters sleep together in groups. They are REALLY cute!!!!!

Hey everybody my family and I are going to Florida over Spring break and I am so, so, so excited! My grandma and grandpa live in Florida and so we are going to stay with them. Their house is really cool because the kitchen is really big and they have this bar thing that we eat at. Then right by their house there is a pool and last time we went there almost everyday and it is so fun! I LOVE going to Florida!

Once upon a time there lived this girl who had a really, really, really long neck. Her neck was as long as a football field. It was really hard for Amanda to find any friends so she decided to try to find some. Because she was a kid she was still growing, when she came out side to go to school she ran into a tree and it really really hurt. At school she could barley fit into the school and when she finally got into the school everybody was laughing at her. Amanda felt sad because nobody had ever laughed at her like that before. She had no friends for the rest of the day.

The next day Amanda saw a really, really little girl that was about to fall into a big lake and the girl was too small to swim. Amanda ran to save the little girl but the girl didn’t move, she just stood there. When Amanda looked the girl was fishing. Amanda thought that they could be friends and she asked if they could be friends. The little girl said,” why would you want to be friends with me”? Amanda said, “Because you are different and I am different too”. So they became best friends for the rest of their lives.

Hey everybody, 

Today Mr. Kipling was shedding his skin and eating it! I thought it was really weird. There was one little piece left on his head and he couldn’t get it off so Mrs. Ade had to get it off with some tweezers. It took a long time because Mr. Kipling kept moving around. I think he is so cute! One time I saw him taking a bath in his water dish and it looked really funny. I am really happy we got him instead of a hermit crab because they don’t do much. This week it is my job to feed him the crickets and pick up the rock that they are hiding under. I really like him and I hope you do too. What do you think Mr. Kiplings favorite food is?

Hi, my name is Zoe. I am visiting the village of Greenbush and staying at the Wade House. In the Wade House there are many rooms. There is the summer kitchen , the winter kitchen, the living room called the parlor, there is the bar room and other rooms on the 2^nd floor. 

       The big room on the 2^nd floor is called the ballroom. People dance there for special occasions.       The bedrooms are very small. You can rent a room for 0.50$ and the nicer rooms for 2.00$. The blankets are handmade and the mattresses were stuffed with hay. 

      On the first floor there is the bar room and only men were allowed. There is a room for woman also called the parlor. The summer kitchen is were Mrs. Wade cooks food that you can get in the summer. The winter kitchen is were you can get food from the winter. Mrs. Wade went into the kitchen at 4:00am and worked till10:00pm.

 Outside the Wade House you can make candles using cow fat. The cow fat makes the candles bigger. This is called tallow.

There is a Black Smith at the Wade House and a Sawmill. I think that the Black Smith is really cool. He said that the coal can burn for a really long time, and when you pound the iron after it comes out of the fire it goes from orange to black.

 While I was visiting there were also a lot of carriages. I thought they were really cool. I think the Wade House is the best hotel ever, I hope you do too!
