I couldn’t be more proud of my fifteen second grade students this year. We had a wonderful “Quest for Knowledge” and learned SO MUCH this school year, Mrs. Goneau included. I loved learning from my students…especially in the area of technology. They are constantly coming up with awesome and wonderful ideas.
If you haven’t done so already, please take some time to look at the individual student blog pages to read about their “Top Ten” Second Grade Favorites. I will miss the students, but I plan on hearing from many of them via our blog.
I hope you enjoyed the DVD I put together for the families! If you have a problem viewing the DVD, please let me know. Thanks to everyone for completing the end-of-the year survey. Your kind words and insight will help me continue my teaching journey and allow the kids to learn in fun and creative ways.
I look forward to some new challenges this fall, as will your child! Change is a wonderful thing and allows everyone to grow!

Make sure that your kids READ and practice MATH in some fun ways this summer. I plan to read and read and read and read!!!!! The key is to find reading genres that your children enjoy. Hopefully, your children have many book ideas swirling around in their heads!
Have a SUPER summer!

 Back to Our Class Website

The students chose an insect to learn more about and used a collection of online encyclopedias to research it. After they finished their research, they wrote a paper about what they learned.  In their own words, the kids wrote a rough draft, peer edited, and revised their work. The final copy of the report was written out and then published using the Mimio software.  To publish their report using the software, the kids had to learn how to use the tools, copy and paste graphics, import sound, add backgrounds, and save a file.  The format of the Mimio files was changed, so it could be uploaded to create voicethreads. The kids will also be recording their reports on their voicethreads.

Then they will present their interactive reports to the other students in class.  They are looking forward to this.  The voicethreads below are not interactive, so the imported sound will not work.  You’ll have to come to class to check out our interactive projects!

Happy May Day! I can’t believe how fast this school year has gone! We are having a wonderful “Learning Quest” this year. The slideshow captures a few things we have done in April. The students finished sharing their “Create an Insect” Projects on Friday and will be posting pictures and descriptions on their individual blog pages later this week. I am sooo impressed with the students’ creativity. Stay tuned…
