We had the opportunity to take part in a fun measuring activity through Jenuine Tech. We learned about non-standard and standard units of measure. First, the students traced their feet and used paper clips, unifix cubes, and other non-standard measures to measure their paper feet. Then they used used their paper feet to measure the length of our classroom. Below, you will see their predictions they made for the length of our classroom (in paper feet). The actual non-standard measure is in the upper left hand corner (52 paper feet). We realized that using the non-standard measure was not very accurate, so then we measured the length of our classroom in feet. The length of our room was 30 feet and 19 inches. We used our Mimio Interactive Board to record our results.
