Dear new teacher,

My name is Lily and I can’t wait for you to come in to our exquisitely busy classroom. I am nine years old, and I was born on June twenty-eight, two thousand and one. It is my first year at Water’s Edge…so if you have us do jobs don’t put me as line-leader. If you do I will get the class lost. YIKES!!! I don’t want to get the class lost. Additionally, my favorite animal is pandas. I just truly adore them. There are two types of pandas, the grosser panda (giant panda) and the lesser panda (red panda.) The difference between them is that the the lesser panda is part of the raccoon family and the giant panda isn’t. If you want to know other facts on pandas, look at my blog tittled “Pandas Oh, Lovely Pandas.” When I grow up I would like to be a panda scientist, soccer player, a violin player, and artist. I LOVE doing art! Whether it is sketching, painting, cutting or anything that has to do with art I am in. Ever since I was little, I always had a passion of art. One year my art teacher thought my artwork was so good, she put it up in a show so it was on display. Guess where it was on display? At the Armory muesem. That is a really cool art center. My favorite sport is soccer. I have been playing since I was four. I love it when the ball gets to my feet and I score! Every one in the crowd starts to cheer and it makes you feel so good. I also adore playing the violin. I am not so good right now because I just started a few months ago, but I think after a few more lessons I will be a wonderful player. I hope you enjoy being in our class.

Sincerely, Lily, one of your new students

Bring! Bring! The school bell rings, so the teacher announces “Time to begin. Please take your seats.”  In school, what do you do? You study the five subjects, of course!  But there are two more things you do in school, but aren’t subjects. They are recess and lunch. In a kids opinion, they think they should be a subject because they are fun and you don’t have to put a lot of effort into thinking about it. They are math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. My favorite subject is math. I say this because, in my opinion it is really FUN!!! I think I think it is fun because I find it really easy. One basic thing you do in math is add, subtract, multiply, and divide. As soon as the school year continues, the basics become much more challenging. Additionally, another subject most kids find appealing is science. You do all sorts of experiments. I think science is about exploring and finding new answers to things you never knew. Social studies is another subject you study in school. Social studies is like learning about the past… like history. Also, writing  is another topic in school.  In writing you do essays that have a beginning, middle, and end. The three types of writing are expository (explaining), narrative (telling a story), and persuasive (convincing someone about something). The fifth subject is reading. In reading you learn and study comprehension skills. You read a story from a textbook to help you under stand the skills. Those were your’e five subjects in school. What is your favorite?

Ahhhhh!  I am bouncing of the walls right now. It is finally the time I get to go on vacation and visit my aunt, uncle, and 2 lovely cousins. We were going because it was Thanksgiving week and we haven’t seen them in a long time. Today on this amazing Saturday, I woke up  at 4:00 to get ready for my flight to Colorado. My friend’s mom drove us to the airport so we can ride a Frontier Airlines airplane. It was finally 7:00 when we boarded our plane. We are on our way to have a wonderful time I thought to myself. We finally arrived around twelve o’clock Florida’s time and 10 o’clock Colorado”s time. Right as soon as we got off the airplane I grabbed my luggage and ran to give my uncle a great big hug. Then we headed back to their house and had a little snack. When we were eating their dog named Dutches sprinted up to us and started to lick us like there was no tomorrow. My cousins and aunt soon bolted through the door from my older cousin Sabrina’s indoor soccer game. She scored the winning goal for her team. How lucky is she? It was soon the next morning and we were packing their cars to drive up to the Y.M.C.A of the rockies. There we were going to stay in a cabin for Monday- Wednesday. Finally, when we arrived we went and checked in at the lodge. The lady at the front desk gave us our key which had the cabin name on it. The name of it was “The Osprey”. The moms got handed a map of all the cabins. We hoped back in their cars and found our way to the cabin. It took us a long time though… we kept saying the names of the cabins we saw so hopefully my mom could look on the map quick enough and see which direction we were going. One our first day in the mountains, my couisin Emma and I woke up first and saw a nice thick layer out bunny tail white. It was my first time seeing snow and it was an equsite sight. When the whole family woke up, we decied to get bundled up and go sleding. We had to put on an under (longed- sleeved) shirt and pants. Then sweat pants and another thick shirt. And then our sledding pants. We definitely got bundled up like snowmen. My uncle lugged some sleds up when we came so had got those ready. We went around town looking for a good hill to go around. After we went to millions of places back near our cabin we drove. What do you know right above our cabin we found a perfectly steep hill. “Wahoo!” we all shouted when we went down the hill. Their dog Duthches loved the snow most of all. You might ask how a dog loves snow. Well she would hop out of the car before we even had a chance to. She digs her snout in the snow and gets covered in white. The second day we were there it snowed even more. As I said yesterday, the most amazing sight I had ever seen. Since yesterday everybody in our family loved sledding, we decided to go sledding again. My Uncle Irv and I got ready first so we plugged in the air pump and blowed up our sleds. Out back at the field we had a ball. Today when the kids waited for the parents to slowly walk up the hill we got ready and aimed some snowballs to throw at them. YES!!! Our snowballs landed on our moms and dads. But then the had to give us revenge. They had even bigger hands then ours, so their snowballs were gigantic! Ahhhh! The four kids ran. Because of all the layers we had to put on, it was tough to run up such a steep hill. Our parents ended up hitting us. Good thing us kids had our hand and feet warmers or we would have froze. After a few hours past, we went back to our cabin. We were so pooped we all layed down on the couches and read. We read when we were eating or when we had free time. The four kids, read so much they called us geeks. Ha!Ha! Bright and early we woke up the next and headed back to their house. It felt like forever! We alot did much more but that was just a bit. I LOVE my family!

Ahhhhh! The sun and heat is definitely what first comes to mind when I think about where I live. Can you guess where I live? That’s right the sunshine state . We are nicknamed the sunshine state because year round it is always so sunny. Even in the winter we sometimes get a teeny tiny breeze with a hint of sun.  And once in a while it will get really cold, but you guessed it, it’s still sunny even then.  One of my favorite things to do where I live is to go to the beach.  I spend a lot of time at the beach with my mom, sister, and friends.  We get an annual beach pass so we can park in any of the beach parks any time of the year.  We have three beach parks open to the public where I live.  My favorite one to go to is called Red Reef Beach.  I like this one the best because there are giant rocks where you can search for crabs and fish.  So make sure you bring your nets and buckets if you go there.  We also love to go on shell hunts to find shells for our collection that we started when I was a little girl.  If you ever visit the state where I live, always be sure to take time to visit the beach.  You won’t be sorry you did.  Do you have fun places like this where you live?

Don’t you always hate it when you or the kids you see around you getting made fun of. I surely am sick of it! I have always been bullied. It is not a fun time. Trust me it is so not not fun having your heart hurt. There is lots of ways to help solve this problem once and for all. One reason is that if you see a kid getting bullied walk up to them and support them. A bully only wants to hurt one kid not a bunch of kids. Also if you are being if they see you are crying the will feel better and keep doing it more to you and lots of  children.  Schools around the world try to stop bulling but I personally think it just encourages them to do it more. When a place I saw had bulling a little they put up signs saying please don’t. Then in a couple weeks  lots more happened. If you are being bullied tell a teacher or adult what is happening. Bulling is not fun so, if you don’t want kids to be mean to you, you should not be mean to other kids.
