Yesterday the grade one students borrowed blocks from the other kindergarten class and made some very interesting creations. They took a tray and selected 12-16 blocks for their creations. They were very quiet so that they did not disturb the other class. Here are their creations.

Today both classes will be doing more building so stay tuned for more cool block creations.
We had an exciting day yesterday, putting bean seeds into plastic bags to sprout so that we can watch what happens. We are sharing this project with kindergarten and grade 1 students from different places on this wiki We called our page on the wiki Mrs. Melva’s Beans. We will add information there again on Friday and Monday.
Spring!
Spring is muddy.
Spring is wet.
Spring is squishy.
Spring is slushy.
Spring is snowy.
Spring is sunny.
Spring is windy.
Spring is here!

My spring poem as a wordle.
I wrote this poem using words that my grade 1 students suggested to describe spring. They also wrote poems, and one story using the spring words. They wrote their poems on paper and then typed them into their blogs. Then I made the wordle and tried different ways of putting it into the blog so that I could help the students put their poems into wordles and into their blogs. I didn’t have much luck doing it on the school computer so I tried doing it on my laptop and it worked much better but it took a long time and only 4 students got their wordles done. We will turn more poems into wordles as soon as we get a chance.
On the weekend I took my dogs, Zumba and Biscuit for a walk on the lake. I saw people ice fishing. I heard a noisy skidoo. I smelled stinky dog farts. I felt warm in the sun, but when I fell down I felt cold and wet in the snow. I had fun with my dogs.
This morning we had a treat. We all went to the gym to watch a play! It was called Tree Boy. It was a funny play with a good message about taking care of the earth and standing up for things you believe in. All the students were very well behaved and enjoyed the play. The staff enjoyed the play too. We were very glad that today was our computer lab day so that we could blog about the play.
