It all came together just BEE-utifully. We watched Reading Rainbow’s The Life Cycle of the Honeybee and gained information from a media source. While creating our bees from construction paper, screen mesh, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes, we discussed all of the facts we had learned. Even I learned some new facts about robber bees! Each child created a honeycomb hexagon that had at least one fact, an illustration, and a yellow background. Everyone was excited to make a hive, but I wasn’t really sure how to make it 3-D. The pieces were cut, glued, and folded on all edges to make the shape. Can you believe how well it turned out!? To make it a little more authentic, we found some branches from the playground and hung it at the check-in station. I can’t wait to see it with all the bees swarming around the hive.
