“Then when this crazy lynx started following me around the woods looking for handouts, it became his official nickname for me.”

page 7 in the book The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins

I imagine that two people are in the woods and there is a lynx looking for food, and the two people just learned eachothers names. I think the guy started calling her by something and it stuck. So it became an official nickname.

Hi! I’m reading the book Harry Potter & The Chamber Of Secrets. Right now in the book, Harry is hearing strange noises that are coming from the wall. The voice is saying YOU WILL DIE NOW. Also, there is actual writing on the wall in blood. It says, THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED AND BEWARE!  I think Lord Voldemort wrote the writing on the wall or he took over someone that wrote it.

One of my favorite characters in Harry Potter is Hermione. She is very smart and a good student. She’s the best student in every class. Hermione is very kind to everyone except to Draco Malfoy. She got so mad at him because he called her a mud blood. He called her mud blood because Hermione has muggle parents. (Parents that aren’t wizards.) Usually people think that kids that are wizards with muggle parents have dirty blood. That’s why he called her a mud blood.

I recommend Harry Potter & The Chamber Of Secrets to people who like Magic, Science, and Mysteries. I give this book five out of five stars because it’s interesting and I can’t put it down!

Hi! I just started a new book called Freaky Friday and I saw the movie a couple years ago.  That is very unusual for me because I normally read the book first. Freaky Friday is about a 13 year old girl that wakes up as her mom the next day. Her reaction surprised me because she was really happy and I thought she would hate being her mom. She has always dreamed of being all grown up. She has had a lot of disasters so far. She was late picking up her son (brother) and she had a laundry disaster. I saw the movie a long time ago so I sort of already new what it was about. The movie is different from the book though. I haven’t read that much of the book so that’s why this is a short blog. I will write more about the book soon.

I really recommend this book top people who like humor because it’s really funny.

My mom loves to read! She typically reads 30 minutes before bed every night. When my mom reads she says that “It’s like watching a movie in my head.”  She reads 30 – 40 pages. My mom likes to read both fiction and non fiction. Her Book Club reads all differnt genres of books. Right now she is reading a sci-fi book called The Hunger Games which is unusual for her. My mom first started reading when she was in first grade and she has loved it ever since. Her favorite book as a kid was Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of Nimh. Her favorite book now is Cutting For Stone.

My mom told me that her parents read to her every night. She said that they were very encouraging about reading and would go to the public library every week. In my mom’s reading class when she was a little, her classmates would take turns reading aloud in a circle. My mom said her worst memory about reading group was “reading aloud to the class.” My mom said her  good memory about reading is that “she loved to do book reports.” She liked making diaramas, book mobiles and dressing up as characters.

My mom said that the other sources other than books that she reads are magazines and books on her ipad. If my mom had a choice she would read the book first before seeing the movie. My mom HAS abandoned a book before. She usually will stay with a book for about 50 pages and then if she doesn’t like it, she’ll stop reading and pick a new one. My mom abandoned Unbroken because she was bored.

After my mom finishes a book for book club, they discuss it. If it’s for plesure she will think about it. My mom reads to me and my brother all the time. She tells us that it is very important to read. My mom thinks reading is the most important life skill you can have.

The main character in the book 11 Birthdays is named Amanda. She is caring and a worrier. I think she is a worrier because she thought her friend Leo wasn’t her friend anymore. She was also scared thet they wouldn’t have a birthday party together. Usually Leo and Amanda have a birthday party every year together because the were born on the same day at the same time. But they aren’t related. They became best friends ever since. I think she is kind because she cares a lot about Leo until that one time when he hurt her feelings. She looks out for him and even though she was mad at him but they were still friends.

I think Amanda and I are alike because we are both caring. I look out for my friends and family and really care for them. I think sometimes I can be worried but not all the time. I’m worried for my friends if they are hurt or something like that, but I think I don’t worry all the time.

I really recommend this book because I couldn’t stop reading it. This is my favorite book and I give it five stars. One thing that made me want to read this book is because of the cover. The cover is Amanda with Balloons in front of her. So you could not see her face. I really wanted to read it so I could figure out what she looks like. Once I read this book, I felt like I was in the book because of the description so I could get a good movie in my mind.
