Once upon a time there lived two birds, and they were very lonely, so they decided to have kids.

They had 27 snails and 1 bird. The snails names were Sarah, Phoebe, Peter, J.T, Daniel, Hannah, Noah, Javia, Alex, Christopher, Oliver, Ely, William, Josie, Molly, Lorenzo, Sonia, Albert, Ben, Kate, Thomas, Bryn, Nolan, Dalia, Dylan, Cece, and Emily. The bird’s name was Bob.

One day, Bob got jealous of all the other snails so he pushed one of the snails off the nest.  That snail was Emily.  Emily was so weak that she could not climb back up the tree, so she decided to move on with a life on her own.  Of course the birds didn’t notice she were gone because there was so many snails! Now, there were only 26 snails.

Emily got so lonely that one day she came upon a grasshopper that was very nice.  They ended up living together until one day they came upon a bird that looked like her mom, but it wasn’t, it was a blue jay! Then the grass hopper was gone…

All of a sudden everything was silent. Emily didn’t know what to do. She wondered if the grasshopper got eaten or went to get food from the market.

She went to the town to see if she could find the grasshopper but, she couldn’t find him. She asked a few critters at town but nobody had seen him. As she was walking home she saw a birds nest. So she decided to see if it was the same bird’s nest that took her friend the grasshopper. When she got to top of the tree she saw the bracelet that she gave to him.

She started to cry.  But all of a sudden she heard a cracking sound she looked back and noticed that the eggs where starting to hatch. She could see the birds’ beaks.

She didn’t know what to do. So she was certain that she had to move as fast as she could (that is not very fast for a snail).    When she got to the nest the birds were all the way out of their shells.  So, she looked around and determined that there was only one thing to do, JUMP!

As she jumped off the tree branch her shell turned into a Para shoot and she slowly drifted down, she landed on a soft pile of leaves. She had to make up her mind and move on with her life.

Ten Snail Years later……

(That’s a long time in snail years.)

When she was going to pick up her kids from school, while she came across a grasshopper. She thought that it would be nice to talk this grasshopper. It turns out that it was the same grasshopper that she used to know.

When the bird picked up the grasshopper that he dropped his bracelet. He was not scared to be picked up because; the bird was his old friend. He was giving him a ride to city hall to go change his name to Billy. He went back to Emily’s house and couldn’t find Emily.  He asked the people at town were she was.  They said that she went to the other town.

When Billy got to the other town Emily was playing outside with her kids. He didn’t want to disturb them so he went and watched them on a bench.

After Emily was done playing with her kids she said “I adopted these kids” so they got married.  After the wedding they had a party everyone was invited even BOB. (Remember him he was the one who started the whole story.) Even Emily’s brothers and sisters were there (all 26 of them). Then everyone started dancing, then all of the snails decided to go do the hokey pokey and the bird did the cha-cha slide!

Phoebe with diorama of Slue-Foot-Sue

Slue-Foot-Sue bounced into the air and up to space.

 She went over the moon.

She kept bouncing back up.

She went very high.

Every year thousands of turkeys die, because of Thanksgiving.

Here are some things I want to say. Why do turkeys always get eaten? I mean we don’t do anything to you why do we have to die. Would you like it if a big scary thing every year came and killed your family or friends? Why can’t it be chickens that get killed? All they do is peck you and say mean things. You always let cows get past because they give milk to you. But why do we get eaten? We’re alive too, we help the world somehow. I say that this year no one eats turkeys so I can live a life in happiness not fear.

In science we are learning about complete circuits. To help us learn about them we did a projects about them.

On Monday October 10th we started our unit about circuits. We took a battery holder a battery and a light bulb. We connected them with wires. This is how we did it.

First we put the battery in to the holder. Next took a wire and connected it to the side of the holder. Then we connected the other end of the wire to the light bulb. After that we touched the light bulb to the battery and the light turned on.

On Wednesday the 12th we did pretty much the same thing except we didn’t have the holder. So it was a little harder because the battery kept rolling away. But we still connected the battery top the wire and the wire to the light bulb and touched the light bulb to the battery. Then the light turned on because it was a complete circuit.

On Friday the 14th we went to a special presentation about electricity. Sonia’s dad did it. He showed us how electricity goes throw to your house and that you use electricity all the time. He also told us that you need a complete circuit to make it work. He took a lot of people up to the front of the room and gave them objects. One of them was a light bulb, which leads to a lamp, which lead to a wire, that lead to a plug eat. It was a cool presentation.

On Monday the 17th of October we learned how to make a light bulb work using a switch. What we did is we connected the battery to the light bulb with a wire, then the light bulb to the switch using a wire, and them the switch to the battery using a wire, it made a complete circuit. We also learned that if the switch was closed the light bulb would turn on but if it was open the light bulb wouldn’t turn on. It was hard but fun.

On Wednesday the 19th of October we did a work sheet about how we connected the battery to the switch to the light bulb. You had to tell what you did to turn it on. You have to take a wire and connect it from the battery to one side of the switch. Then the other wire to the other end of the switch which connected to the light bulb. Then the light bulb touches the battery the light bulb turns ion if the switch is closed. Next we got a set of stuff it had a light bulb, a light bulb holder, a battery, a battery holder, a motor, a switch, and wires. We connected the light bulb to the motor, then the motor to the switch, then the switch to the light bulb, then the light bulb to the battery. Then the motor turned on and not the light bulb but if you stopped the motor the light bulb turned on.

On Monday the 24th of October we wrote a few symbols of electricity things. It showed us what the symbols are. Then we did a work sheet were we had to draw a picture of what we did last time. Next we had to write about how electricity flows throw our picture. It goes through the light bulb to the switch throw the motor back to the battery.

That is what we did in science!
