I recently read Indigo Blue by Cathy Cassidy. This is a realistic fiction book that is full of drama, family, friendships, love and a lot of troubles for Indigo, Mum and Misti. Read this book to see if the troubles go away.

There are several interesting characters in Indigo Blue. One of the main characters in the story is Indigo/Indie, who has a lot of struggles with moving and she also has trouble getting along with her best friend Jo. As the story goes on Indie becomes friends with Aisha because Aisha made one of the lead parts just like her. Misti is Indie’s little sister. Mum is Indie’s and Misti’s Mum and the woman who is having issues with Max her boyfriend in the beginning. Jane is Mum’s best friend who helps Mum a lot and is very kind to Misti and Indie. Jo is Indie’s best friend until… Aisha becomes Indie’s new best friend. Max is Mum’s boyfriend who constantly does nasty things to Misti, Mum and Indie. Joe is a nice guy who is trying to make things better for Mum, Misti and Indie. Joe tries to start a nice relationship with Mum until…

In the beginning of this realistic fiction book Mum, Misti and Indie live in a house with Max (Mum’s boyfriend). Max starts to treat Mum poorly so Mum leaves with her two children and quickly moves into a house on 33 Harington Drive. Indie describes the house as a junkyard and she personally thinks there is no potential to the house. Indie and Mum started cleaning for a long time until the house looked the best it could be. Indie didn’t go to school for a few days and when she eventually returned Aisha was  very happy to see her. Jo didn’t even care; she was more focused on other friends she made while Indie was out of school.

Throughout the story Mum starts to become ill. Indie feels like she is the Mum and gets no time for friends. Jane is very helpful and spends some days with Mum  and takes care of Misti. Joe came over and gave Mum flowers and asked if they could go over for pizza and a movie. Everyone was so excited for what should be a fun night with Joe. Suddenly, when Joe leaves Max showed up at the front door. He came in and was begging if they could accept his apology. That night Mum ends up going out with Max so they had to cancel the plans with Joe. Indie had to watch Misti and feed her. While Indie was watching Misti the power cord went out and all of the lights went out. Indie tried to find the flashlight but she could not find one. All of a sudden there was a knock on the door. It was a police officer. He informed both girls that their Mum just got in a car accident and she has to stay in the hospital. Therefore the police wanted for them to stay with some relative they know and trust. Unfortunately they don’t, so they had to stay in the hospital in a separate room.

Read Indigo Blue to find out if Mum is okay, if they move again and if Aisha, Jo and Indie become best friends at the end!

In my opinion I really liked this book. I have never read a book with that much drama but I kind of enjoyed it! I really recommend this book to people who like dramatic books! Happy reading!

Thanks for reading my blog,

Angela

Found

 By: Margaret Peterson Haddix

I recently read the book Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Found is a science fiction book that has a lot of suspense and creepy action.  At some parts in the book it’s a bit confusing because some kids travel to the future and past. Read my blog to find out the great action that takes place in the book Found.

The suspense begins when Angela DuPre, a worker at the airport discovers a mysterious plane. When she entered the plane she found nothing but babies in every single seat.  She was very puzzled at first and then she ran off the plane because she wasn’t supposed to be on the plane in the first place.

Thirteen years later Jonah, Katherine and Chip become the main characters of the book. The rest of the book takes place normally close to Chip and Jonah’s houses. The end takes place in a cave.  Chip and Jonah realize that they were both adopted so they have now become best friends that want to know where they came from and why their parents didn’t want them.

One day Jonah got a letter that was sent to him.  He couldn’t believe what it said, You Are One Of The Missing with no mailing address or return address. Jonah thought it was a prank until he received another letter that said Beware! They Are Coming Back To Get You. He told Chip about this and he was confused, but together they figured out it might be something to do with adoption. But then they started wondering why Chip didn’t receive any threatening letters. Jonah didn’t tell anyone except Chip. He was regretting it towards the middle and end of the book.

Katherine  (Jonah’s sister who is not adopted) started to get into the mystery with Jonah and Chip. Katherine and Jonah went to a meeting with their parents to go over the files.  Katherine was secretly there with her phone taking pictures of the files while they were not looking. There was a page that said witness and it had Angela DuPre and her phone number under that section and then there was a list of survivors with Chip and Jonah’s full name. They also made friends with Daniella McCarthy, she was also a survivor on the list. They tried contacting Angela DuPre. They received a letter back that said You contacted me at 8:35 pm on Monday, October 2. I was not at liberty to discuss anything with you over the phone. If you call back, I will deny that I sent this letter. I will refuse to tell you anything more. But if it is safe, I will meet you in conference room B at the Linston Public Library at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 7. Then we can talk. Do not attempt to contact me otherwise. This is the only way. There was no signature but they figured it was from Angela DuPre because they had just contacted her. They all went Saturday to meet Angela.

Angela started to talk with them. She told them stuff that they are not supposed to know. For example the plane with all the babies. Chip and Jonah couldn’t believe all of the stuff they didn’t know. They were all done there meeting so they left. There was a big man standing there. Angela was trapped.

“We owe you,” Jonah screamed. Angela was directing them to go, hurry leave the conference room. Angela didn’t want them to get hurt. They started leaving and Jonah ran back because he thought to himself, Angela was nice to us giving us information we are not supposed to know. I have to save her. Jonah stopped and asked the librarian if she could help find the person that was fighting in the conference room.  Jonah spotted Angela outside by a tree and then all of a sudden she was not there. She went into a time warp.

They began trying to look online to try to find Angela’s number because unfortunately they left the file folder with all of the pictures in the conference room. They were hoping Angela had the folder but they were also thinking that the janitor boy or the person who fought with Angela might have taken the file folder with all of the secret information. Angela’s name was unknown when they looked on the Internet, phone book and the phone call numbers.

Jonah and his mom and dad were invited to an adoption fun activity day. Chip was also invited. They decided they would go to try to find out where they came from. Jonah really wanted Katherine to go with them because she knew more than they did about the whole Angela DuPre situation and the files. They all attended the activity day together.

All of the children were taken into another room and split into two groups. They called off all the names that Katherine knew were on the plane and put them in a group. Katherine was not on the plane so she faked to be Daniella McCarthy who wasn’t attending the activity. The remaining kids went with the other adult to a classroom. Mr. Hodge and Gary were in charge of the people from the plane; they were told that they were going to be going outside to do  some skits and watch a video. They started walking and Jonah started whispering to be careful, “we are in a bad situation, don’t listen to anyone and anything they tell you.” Nobody listened to Jonah.

Instead of going outside they were taken into a cave. They had to put their hand on this scanner to enter the cave. Jonah wanted to make a mad dash but then he would leave everyone alone. He knew a lot about what was happening so he thought he should stay. He was also afraid someone had a weapon and if he started running away he might get killed. Katherine didn’t put her full hand on the scanner and they questioned her. She told Mr. Hodge that she put her hand on the scanner. She didn’t put her hand fully on the scanner because she thought it would only scan if they were adopted and she wasn’t. They entered and started talking. Jonah faked he was too scared of dark small areas. He asked if he could leave but then Mr. Hodge threatened him with a taser so he said he would stay! I don’t blame him!

Now suddenly Angela appeared in the cave. She shouted that she was there to save everyone. They were all fighting and Jonah saved Angela from getting tased or killed, because Angela saved them before and now once again. Angela tased Mr. Hodge and his friend (Gary) and tied them up. Jonah made them tell them the code to get out of the cave. He carefully punched it in and he looked outside and there was nothing, no sky, no trees, no ground, no nothing! Everyone screamed and they were bugging Mr. Hodge to tell them how to get back to their parents and the real world.

Mr. Hodge asked a big question, you can either live in the past or future.  Jonah didn’t know which one to pick, he just wanted to go home and make sure he’s with Katherine and Chip. They couldn’t escape, they were in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. Read the book Found to see if Jonah, Chip and Katherine either pick the past or future!

In my opinion I really liked the book  Found. It was full of action. I read Found because I really like the author Margaret Peterson Haddix so I assumed I would like every book by her! It was definitly worth reading! I hope you read Found to see if Jonah, Chip and Katherine end up in the past or future. I also hope you read some other books by Margaret Peterson Haddix.  Which one would you choose, the past or future? Enjoy the science fiction world!

Thanks for taking the time and reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed it!

  Racing In The Rain

By: Garth Stein

If you want to know how dogs feel when they get left out and what they are thinking at all times you should read Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein.  Racing In The Rain is a realistic fiction book that wants you to keep reading because each chapter is guaranteed to leave you in suspense!  I never wanted to put the book down! When you read my post you have to know that the dog is telling the story!

The lovable golden retriever Enzo is not at all like other dogs.  Other dogs in the world chase cars but Enzo likes to ride race cars with his companion Denny!  Denny takes very good care of Enzo, Denny treats Enzo like a son.  Denny always takes Enzo to the race track and even to errands that Denny has to run.   Denny and Enzo aren’t the only main characters in the book. There is also Zoe who is Denny’s daughter and Enzo’s best friend who he always has to take care of.  Denny also has a wife named Eve who loves Denny and Enzo and of course her daughter Zoe very much!

Denny was a real good race car driver who was even on television!  When Enzo watched him race on television with Zoe and Eve, Enzo would dream about going in one of those race cars with Denny one day.  Sure enough a few days later Enzo wouldn’t let Denny leave because Enzo wanted to go with him so bad!  Denny ended up finally taking Enzo to the race track.  Enzo watched Denny fly around the track like a lightning bolt.  Can you imagine driving in the passenger seat with a pro race car driver who is your dad going so fast you can’t even see? Well Enzo was that lucky dog.  Enzo’s favorite part was rounding the corners because the car felt like it was upside down.  Unfortunately Enzo couldn’t ride with Denny when he had a pro race!  Enzo watched him on T.V all the time!

For the next couple days Enzo could somehow smell something wrong with Eve’s head.  It smelt like cancer or a tumor.  Enzo wanted to tell Eve what he smelt but he couldn’t.  He tried barking and everything but it didn’t work.  As days past Eve started to get headaches but she didn’t want to go to the doctors.  Denny was trying his best to make her go to the doctors but she said she hates the doctor’s office and the hospital.  The next day Denny took off for a race and Eve, Zoe and Enzo cuddled up to watch his race.  Within a few minutes Eve couldn’t hold up her head.  She finally knew something was wrong because she had been having head pains for a few months.  Enzo knew at first something was wrong, and he was right.  Eve took herself to the hospital with Zoe, and she left Enzo home with NO T.V on.  Enzo felt so desperate and anxious to see what was wrong with Eve and how Denny was going to find out. When Denny got home from his race he was shocked to see Enzo alone. He looked all around the house and couldn’t find his wife and child. Denny called Eve and started screaming at her for leaving Enzo home alone. Eve told Denny that she was in the hospital and Denny took Enzo and ran to the car and rushed to the hospital. Enzo had to stay in the car while he was waiting for Denny to come out.  Finally Denny came back in the car crying.  He said, “I don’t think Eve is going to make it, she has cancer in her brain.  Enzo couldn’t believe that he was right.  Do you leave your dog home alone ever?  I know my family does.

Everyone was praying for a happy, safe, fast recovery from Eve but it didn’t happen as expected. Eve was in the hospital for a long time and that meant that Enzo stayed home alone a lot because Denny had to work. After a while Denny realized that he should have focused more on Eve.  After a few months in the hospital Eve went home to her mom and dad’s house where she felt more comfortable.  She had to sleep in a hospital bed every night. She had breakfast, lunch and dinner in bed, she was so limited to her surroundings.  One night Eve put on a fancy dress, make-up and she did her hair pretty. When she walked out of the bathroom she could barely walk. Denny and Enzo were in awe. They couldn’t believe that was Eve, she was so frail and pale and she looked so old.  The night after that night Eve died. Everyone was so sad. Could this really happen to a 32 year old woman?

The next months for Denny, Zoe and Enzo were very hectic.   Zoe was forced to stay with her grandparents because the grandparents thought it would be better for Denny and Zoe.  Zoe wanted to stay with her dad and Denny wanted Zoe and so did Enzo.  It was a big battle! For a few years it was just Denny and Enzo racing. Enzo had so much fun.  Denny started training people to drive race cars.  Enzo loved watching the race cars drive by.   Denny and the grandparents had to go to court to see who will get to be in charge of Zoe for the rest of her life.  The grandparents wouldn’t even let Denny come to the funeral and wake because Eve’s parents thought that it was Denny’s fault that Eve died because Denny didn’t take Eve to the doctor’s quick enough.

The book title is Racing In The Rain because Denny did his best racing when it was raining.   He always won first place and turned every corner perfectly when it was raining!

Read Racing In The Rain to find out who Zoe ends up living with for the rest of her life, what happens to Enzo and how did Zoe end up living with someone!  I really enjoyed Racing In The Rain because it was interesting to see how a dog thinks and feels!  I really recommend this book to dog lovers! It was one of my favorite books!  I hope you end up reading Racing In The Rain soon!!  Enjoy your reading adventures!

Thanks for reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed!
