Peter Pan
By J.M. Barrie
The book Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie is not what you might think. Many people don’t think to read this book because of the movies that have been made from it. It is a good book for people who like action packed adventure books. This book you might like because it is a short book. The book starts out in London, England in the early 1940′s. The main characters are Wendy, Michael, John, Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Peter Pan picks up Wendy, Michael and John unexpectedly and brings them to Neverland. In Neverland, Captain Hook and his pirates want to destroy Peter Pan. One of the many differences be tween the book and the movies is when Peter makes hollow trees which lead underground to a bedroom for Wendy, Michael and John. If you have seen the cartoon version of the movie made by Disney, that does not happen. Also in the book there is a fight at the lagoon where the mermaids are, which is not in the movie. These examples of the differences between the movie and the book are reasons why you should read the book even it you have seen the classic movie. The book follows the main characters from adventure to adventure trying to stay away from Captain Hook. One of my favorite parts of the book is where Captain Hook and Peter Pan battle at the lagoon. During this battle, Peter and Captain Hook meet face-to-face and Peter steals Hooks knife from his belt. This turns out to be very important in the end. You will have to read the book to find out what happens.
