Fairies. Demons. Mythical monsters of lore. This is Fablehaven, a reserve for endangered species of monsters. All these monsters are controlled by Silas, the caretaker of Fablehaven. Soon, though, these people-and indeed, all people on earth-are soon to become extinct. Unless Kendra and Seth, Silas’ grandkids, can stop them. “Them” is the Society of the Evening Star, an evil association trying to release the demons of Zzyx amd control them to take over the world. The Knights of Dawn are trying to stop them, but their resistance will be friutless if the Society is allowed to get all 5 artifacts and kill the 5 guardians of the artifacts. Then, they will travel to the demon prison and release the forces of evil.

Kendra, Coulter and Tanu have been charged with the task of protecting the 5 guardians of the artifacts. Meanwhile, Vanessa, Newel, Doren and Seth are on a quest to find the Sword of Valiance, a failsafe to protect the Knights if the demons should get out. Vanessa says that the Singing Sisters, prophetic sirens, will be able to tell Seth where the Sword is, but at a price…

The hunt to find and protect the gaurdians is not going well. The first three they met were already dead, and the current one is suicidal. But there is a ray of hope…The last gaurdian has not been seen for several years. This will not make the hunt any easier, but she should be adept at surviving, at least.

The sword has been found! All companions in the second team are alive (If craving fast food) and Seth has the sword. As the team prepares to meet the other team, Seth is wondering…Are they alive? And were they successful?

The fifth guardian is dead. Now all that stands between the Society and Zzyx is the journey. But the Knights suspect they are already there. As they prepare for their own crossing of a dangerous strait, they call in all help from allies-the dragons, fairies and unicorns. As they watch the first demons step into the light, they wonder if they have a chance.

I liked this book a lot. The series it accompanies is definetly really good. l liked it because of the action, fantasy and somewhat mysterious elements. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes action, adventure, and the Percy Jackson series. (Everyone, THIS MEANS YOU!!!!)

The fourth and last book in Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance cycle, Inheritance was incredible. It is set in a world called Alagaesia, where dragons are real. Or rather, were real. In Alagaesia, the only remaining dragon is the king’s. The king and his dragon are twisted and evil beyond imagining, and will live forever unless someone kills them in combat. There used to be no hope of defeating the king, but now…there is Eragon and Saphira. Eragon, once a simple farm boy, had a dragon egg hatch for him. He is now the last free rider in Alagaesia.

Eragon has come far since he and Saphira were trained. He now has a proper Rider’s sword, proper training, and experiance to boast of. He and Saphira have won many battles, and now it is time to face the king. But they still don’t have enough advantages. It is time to find the Rock of Kuthian, on the island of Vroengard. They need whatever is in the Vault of Souls. They go to Vroengard, find the rock, and speak their names. But still, it is not enough. They must learn their true names in order to open the rock. After many days pondering themselves, they finally find their true names. They open the vault of Souls, and, it is full of Eldunari (the spirits of dead dragons, still able to talk and use magic,)and dragon eggs! They take the Eldunari with them, and, with the combined firce of them, the Varden, (a rebel group) and the Eldunari, storm the capital city, Urubaen. Will they make it to the throne room and face Galbatorix, Shruikan, and the twisted Eldunari the king has under his command? Even if they do, will they be able to stand this combined might? Read Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, and Inheritance (in that order) to find out!!!

The story Saga is set 10000 years in the future. Saga is just a game, but one so complexly programmed that sentient life-forms have grown on it. The main character, Ghost, has one memory of her life, and it is only 6 years before the story begins. In short, she has a chunk of 12 years missing from her life. She lives with a gang of anarcho-punks, a resistance against the tyrant Dark Queen, who makes life miserable for the reds, who are the majority of the society.

Ghost’s friends’ names are Jay, Carter, Milan, Athena, and Nathan.  All of them are life forms grown from the game.  The social system of Saga depends on the color of the card you own, red being the lowest, violet being the highest. The whole gang is red, which means they are entitled to very few privileges. They decide to raid a green mall, which they have never done before. The group’s techie, Athena, gets them in the mall, but as they are spray painting the walls, the police catch them.

At the police station, they meet a strange new ally-a beautiful girl swashbuckler. Her name is Cindella, and she is from another world. As strange as it may seem, Cindella is one of the millions playing the game Saga, who are from New Earth, the planet from which Saga has been programmed.

Cindella helps them out of the station, and then goes off to somewhere else. Meanwhile, the gang calls on Ghost’s good friend Arnie. Ghost brings parts for Arnie’s airtank in exchange for several nights’ furlough because their hideout was discovered and destroyed by the police. While they are there, Arnie recruits them to be his airtank crew for a race. Nathan decorates the tank with the signs of Athena’s new guild, Defiance. (A guild is a group of people, either people formed from the game or playing the game, who all want something in common from the Dark Queen). The kids and Arnie win the race, and almost get captured by the police. They escape with the help of the Dark Queen’s former assassin, Michelotto. Ghost learns she is a RAL, (a Reprogrammed Autonomous Life-form that is the blueprint for the people from the game. They have godlike powers). Together with Cindella and the rest of the gang, they hope to stop the Dark Queen’s tyranny. Do they? Or are they crushed by the Dark Queen? Read Saga and its prequel, Epic, to find out. (Please read the prequel first!!!)
