In the book  Among The Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix, there are so many parts that make you have so many mixed emotions.Throughout the book my heart never stopped racing once. Margaret Peterson Haddix always kept you wanting to read the whole book in one night. This book was a whole variety of themes, there was happiness, sadness, and at the edge of your seat moments.

The main characters in my book are Luke and Jen. Luke and Jen are both shadow children meaning that they are the third child in their families. The law only always two children per household. They can never be seen, never be heard and absolutely never go outside. The Population Police could put your family in deep deep danger if they find that a family had more than two children.

One day Luke peaks outside his window while his parents are gone and he sees a girls face in the Sport family’s upstairs floor.Luke thinks he’s crazy because the law only allows 2 children per house and that house has 2 children already. He wanted to tell his brothers about this girl. He wanted to tell the world that there was another shadow child around this place besides him. But he just could’nt. Luke knew that there would be some sort of consequence if he told a soul. So Luke decides to investigate the Sports family’s house.

Luke is home alone and now is his chance to find this shadow child. Luke steps outside. He is sweating and  he can feel his heart running 3 thousand miles per hour…………….. 321 he runs to the Sports families door praying no one sees him. He quickly fumbles with the lock. He’s in but he’s also bleeding because he cuts himself with the screen door. Luke feels his head spinning because he can’t believe that he made it. He walks around, then suddenly he sees a girl with jeans and a gray sweatshirt. She starts pinning him to the ground so he barely can breath. She gives him a stern look and sarcastically questions him. The girl tells him about her alarm system and how the police could be there any minute, but when Luke said that the Population Police could come she immediately lets him go as if he threatened her. Luke gets up and the girl could not believe that Luke has been her neighbor all this time and she never knew him. “I’m Jen and I’m a third child”,she said. She asks  him if he was a third child but he just seems clueless and doesn’t answer. She gets the message that he is a third child and that he is nervous. She quickly runs to the phone because she forget about the alarm. “Dad I know. Call the security company and get them to cancel the alarm O.K?, love you too thanks.” Luke was nervous but everything was fine now, deep down he was happy to have find a friend.

Luke continues to go over there and meet Jen. She has alot of illegal foods and drinks they aren’t supposed to eat and drink but do anyway. Luke is having such a great time going over there and just being there with a friend makes him feel nice. But one day everything goes wrong….Jen tells Luke about the rally she’s holding in Washington for  shadow children. She wants shadow children to be free and not have to hide anymore. Once Luke finds more information about this rally he quickly says he cant go. Jen and Luke soon get into an argument that never should have happened. That night Luke gets an interesting visit from Jen and they both say their goodbyes. Jen leaves to go to the rally and Luke stays behind.

I think Margaret Peterson Haddix did an absolute outstanding job on this book, because I love a good “at the edge of your seat book”. She has twists and turns and chill filled moments that are just so interesting that they made me read the book for hours. I would recommend this book to anyone whole loves a good cliff hanger, because there are so many parts where the author keeps you reading and reading until there are no more parts (end of the book).  I truly loved this book and I hope you will too!

In the book The Hunger Games  by Suzanne Collins there is an adventure in almost every single part of the book! Suzanne described a lot of parts in the book as if  I was actually there in the Hunger Games. Those parts really made my head spin!

In this book the main characters are Peeta and Katniss. These two young tributes, from district 12, now have to fight in the Hunger Games for the same exact reasons which are money, their families and their lives. The Hunger Games is a violent game that happens every year, which involves 1 girl and 1 boy from each district. The violent part is that they have to try to kill each other with whatever weapons they have. Whoever is the last one alive wins money and  fame. Katniss’s little sister Prim got picked to fight in the games but Katniss  said, “No way” and she took Prim’s place in the games.  Peeta was originally picked and  he did not have a choice. Peeta and Katniss are both scared and feel hopeless about surviving.  Each of them are trained for the games by their sponser Haymitch. And now their ready…

321…… There off to fight. In the beginning of the games they both are scared and do not have a clue what is headed next.  In the middle of the games Katniss and Peeta are still alive with not many other girls and boys who survived.  The rules suddenly change and now there can be two winners, as long as they are from the same district. Katniss meets a little girl named Rue who reminds her of Prim. Rue shows Katniss eatable plants that can help with Katniss’s burns and cuts. Soon Rue dies and Katniss is torn inside. Peeta hangs around with a gang that turns on him. He is now cut and hurt badly, but Katniss eventually finds him and helps him until he has some strength.  In the end of the book, Katniss and Peeta are very close to winning but they still have one boy who’s strong and quick to deal with. Katniss and Peeta both know that this will not be easy because they are both in bad condition.

I think Suzanne Collins did a fantastic job with this book. There were parts that made me laugh and parts that made me mad, but otherwise, I loved the book because I love a good action book that makes chill’s sprawl through your body. I would recommend this book to any student who enjoys an action novel, romance and suspense because believe me there is a lot of the above in The Hunger Games.

In the book Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix, there is a young girl named Bethany. She is a young 12 year old girl that is very suspicious about her parents. Her mother always cries and her father is very protective of her. One day Bethany gets rushed into the car with her mother and father. She has no idea what is going on. They are driving for hours and hours.  Finally they reach a strange house that Bethany’s aunt Myrlie lives in. Bethany gets out of the car and hears her father and her aunt whispering. All she can hear her aunt say is ” Does she know about Elizabeth? ” Her father says softly ” No, not yet, right now isn’t a good time. “  Then her parents drive off and she is left with her aunt and curiosity. Bethany’s aunt tries to make her feel welcome. Her aunt takes her swimming because Bethany loves it but people who are there look at Bethany and act as they have seen a ghost . This makes Bethany suspicious. She  needs to know whats going on. Still, Bethany misses her parents so much and wishes they were here. One day Bethany gets a package from her father with four different birth certificates from four different states and a lot of money. When a very weird man shows up at her new house asking for Bethany’s father things start to get out of hand.

Margaret Peterson Haddix leaves cliff hangers and clues that make you want to read more. She is an amazing author. I  loved this book and I encourage everyone who loves fiction to read it!!
