The book I am reading is called Frindle by Andrew Clements. The book is about a boy named Nick who is in the 5th grade. Nick has a lot of crazy ideas. One year in 3rd grade he made his classroom into a beach and even put sand on the floor. The kids and his teacher thought it was a great idea and very creative but the principal was not happy.  A year later when he was in 5th grade he would make annoying peeping sounds like a bird in class. The teacher had no idea where or who they were coming from.  It bothered the teacher at first and then she gave up trying to figure out who was making the sounds.  Nick’s 5th grade teacher is named Mrs. Granger and she is very strict. She is obsessed with using dictionaries and  proper words.  Nick didn’t like her because she was serious all the time and could not take a joke. One day Nick and his friend Janet missed the bus from school and started walking home. They found a pen and Nick gave it a new name. Instead of calling it a pen Nick called it a frindle.  Mrs. Granger found out about the frindle and of course she made a big  deal about it.  She said the word frindle is not a word because it’s not in the dictionary. Nick started a huge debate about using the word frindle. Even on picture day when the photographer came he told the kids to say cheese but before he took the picture all of them held up a pen and said frindle. if you want to know who wins read the book and find out if it gets in the dictionary or not…

I like this book because it is a back and fourth argument between Ms Granger and the fifth grade kids. I think it is funny the kids alwas win.

I would recommend this book to kids that like fiction books because I doubt that kids would take control like that.
