Lemons.

All this and more in the book Firebirds Rising. Except mabey lemons. This is a book that is a collection of short stories. With such stories by Kelly Link, Sharon Shinn, and a bunch of other people who write books. One of my favorites is Huntress. It is about a girl who joins track at a high school. Then the “ruler” of the track team who he calls his “pack” comes up and asks her to join. Eventually they try to kill her, but the goddes 0f something comes to save her.

I didn’t know if this was worth telling, but i’d like to see how you guys thought about the story. So here it goes!

This is a love story. This is an action story. This, is a true story (not realy though). This is a story about Dale, a 19 year old slave on the planet Giel (pronounced Gee-el) with his 11 year old sistor, Lena(LEE-NAW).Thier old master Kel, was a kind old man, but is selling them for a new house. Selfish, right? So anyway, when Dale is bought, he is thrown into a rage because he and Lena are seperated. “LENA!” Dale shouts while kneeing a guard in the solar plexis. “DONT’ TAKE MY SISTER!” Dale lunges towards Hiu(HE-YOU), Lena’s buyer. In mid-air, he gets tazed by a guard. When he awakes, he finds himself on a rickety old rowboat, wraped in brass chains. Groggily,(not sure if thats a word)he looks around and sees an old women.Dale struggles to get free.”Save your energy boy, you cant get out.” the women says in a raspy, pained voice.”Where am I?” Dale questions, trying to supress his hatred for his life.”Where’s my sister!?!!?!??!?!”

“Long gone” says the women.”I’m Maldrich, your owner.”

I have no owner!” shouts Dale, trying to roll out of the boat. Maldrich laughs, pulling a leash attached to Dales chains with suprising force.”You can’t escape boy, you’ll never escape! She was right. ” Now when we get to shore, you must build me a shack for my clohes, a hut for food, and a bed for yourself. You’ll be staing for a long time, so get comfortable.” And he did. He had no choice. Over the years,Dale grew into a fine, strong young man. Then on March 21, his birthady, he is brought to a Yerthing, a vainity show where masters and mistress enter their slaves in a contest. The winning master or mistress gets 1000000 weiks, the money used, and the slave is freed, never again to serve angainst his or her will. When Dale arrives, he experiences a bitter sweet moment. There, on the bench across from him, was Lena.
