In what ways have race relations in the U.S. improved since the civil rights movement? Do you think people of all races have achieved equality in the U.S? Explain.

Since the civil rights movement race relations have increased in the U.S. However, I do believe people of all races have achieved equality in the U.S. because people have started to extand their varities & date beyond their race with hesitation nor worring about what others have to say.

Recently in my class we’ve been studying nonfiction. We read an article from “The New York Times: Upfront” magazine. Our assignment is to answer the following question : Does the U.S. need tighter gun-control restrictions? Why or why not?

I wish that the U.S. gets tighter gun-control ristrictions because of the Tucson shooting,  the Arizona shooting & the Fort Hood in Texas shooting. There are more teens carring concealed weapons than adults.

At first, I thought it was okay for everyone to own guns for their own saftey & protection. Once I read the article Warning Shots I started started to think that people misuse the Second Amendment of the right to bare arms. I know that many people feel that only people over the legal age with permits & a gun licence should be allowed to carry guns. After reading this article I believe that more startes should require a permitt & an gun licence to carry a concealed weapon at any time.

This article provided alot of information & opinions on guns & the things they cause. Some people felt that guns were harmfull, since 31,224 people died in the U.S. from gun violence in 2007 & there are 89 guns for every 100 of people in the United States. Therefore, a victum from the Tucson shooting introduced a bill banning high-capacity clips. “This is not a giun control bill. I like to usethe word ‘gun safety bills.’ And this one just addresses the narrow issue of these clips.” The statement didn’t really surprise me all that much, but it did make me feel alittle relieved. I felt relieved because after the bill was lifted I feel asthough a huge burdon was lifted off on the shoulders of Congresswomen Gabrielle Giffords, who was a survivior of the Tucson shooting after being shot in the head.

However, all of this makes me think that we as teens should make a stand & create a pole for stricter gun control in the United States. On the other hand, 65% of high school students support stricter laws covering the sale of guns, but all together only 47% of ALL Americans say gun-control laws should be stricter.

My thought on a woman’s role in society is to be home to nurse the children, prepare meals & complete house work on the daily basis without problem.
