A Million Little Pieces is the story of the author’s recovery from drug addiction. Frey lived his life around drugs from the age of thirteen where he was smoking and drinking regularly. As he got older, his drug use progressed in to using crack and crystal meth every day. After falling out of a window, Frey wakes up on a plane with his front teeth knocked out, a hole in his cheek and no recollection of the night before. When the plane lands, he is checked into rehabilitation center and begins detoxifying.  While Frey is there, he realizes that he wouldn’t be able to sober up through a belief in a god or a higher power; and that if he was going to get better, he would have to do it with just  himself. In this story Frey looks back on his life and realizes he needs to start a new sober life from scratch.
