The novel the Five People you Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom is very thought provoking book. It follows the story behind a man named Eddie, the story starts at the ending of Eddie’s life a through the novel the reader learns a great many lessons about the way one should live life.

The point of view for this novel is very limiting. It only provides the thoughts of Eddie and a few narrations here in there. The lack of depth in more characters then just Eddie leads to a very profound understanding of Eddie. He is a very well developed character and the reader is able to understand his emotions and the reader walks away from the novel feeling as if the character Eddie was actually a real person.

This novel is very well constructed and thought provoking it leaves the reader feeling enlightened on subjects that are normally discussed in society today . The author Mitch Albom does a fantastic job creating an in depth story line with many lessons for both Eddie and the reader.

The novel stick figure by Lori Gottlieb follows the story of Lori Gottlieb in her youth. It is a memoir based on Lori’s experience with anorexia. This although attempted to portray a young, fraigle, naive girl, did the exact opposite. It’s lack of analytical structure made the memoir seem ridiculous, not thought provoking, and showed the lack of concentration on the authors part.

The authour took her diaries from the age of  11 and decided that it would be a good idea to publish her diaries. Unfortunately in doing this it made the book seem as if it was written by a young person with a lack of vocabulary and intellectual thought. For example the very first sentence of the memoir begins like this, ” First of all, I should probably tell you about me and school and stuff, so you’ll get what I’m talking about when I write in you. I mean I know you’re not a real person, but I still feel like you’ll get me” (15).

This novel although poorly constructed does give you a character that is quite easy to fall in love with, regardless of her youthful state of mind. She brings you into a world of witty heavy sarcasm that not many people can understand. Lori makes the reader laugh because of her bluntness in a strange environment.

The piece tells of people who think of Chris as a hero, and the people who just saw him as a menace to society.

This non-fiction biography is amazingly crafted and true work of art. Jon Krakauer has out done himself in his knowledge of Chris McCandless. This story will stick with the reader for a time because each chapter involves thought provoking information. It is truly magnificent.
