This is the second video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8jxGsg3p0Y
I liked this video because not only did the robot react to different things, it did so while balancing on a ball. The only part we could not do is the part with the remote control. But I think we could do some of the other things the robot does.
The five main reasons why the Articles of Confederation didn’t work was:
1. The federal government only had one branch of government, the legislature.
2. The federal government did not even have as much power as the states, and the federal government needed permissions from the states to even do anything.
3. All the federal government could really do was declare war and make peace with other nations. But that didn’t really mean something until the states approved of it.
4. The federal government couldn’t help the states trade with each other or help with their problems because it had no power.
5. Because the federal government had literally no power, the states were quarreling and making bad laws.
If I were in charge, The federal government would have much more power. But I would still let the states have some say in laws and government. The federal government would have more branches also. Another thing I would change was that the federal government could make changes without having to ask the states about them.
Spring Conference
Dear friend from across the land,
I am writing to you regarding your previous question, “After what happened on April 19, can war between the colonies and Great Britain be avoided?” I’m thinking by now, it cannot be avoided. The battles we have fought including the Boston Tea Party, were tragic and cannot be forgotten. There are many other reasons why it cannot be avoided. One reason is that Great Britain will not give the Americans freedom. If they want to prevent war, Parliament should at least let the Americans be free like how they would be in Great Britain. Another reason why it cannot be avoided is, that even if we all get a treaty and everyone signs it, there could become another rebellion. As you can see by the reasons, war between the colonies and Great Britain can obviously not be avoided.
Sincerely,
Mark Longbottom
