My name is Adina. Which means “ she has been saved.” Adina Mandela. I am smart and brave. And I have a big smart mouth. I have a horrible life. I got separated from my family at the young age of 8 years old. I should probably thank God that I still have a life though. Both me and the rest of my family lives in Africa. I live in Ghana, Africa. And I don’t know where in the world of our Africa lives, lives my heart- broken family. Before I got taken away my mama said “. Adina Mandela. Before I let you go, you have to be brave darling. Stick up for yourself. Don’t let anyone lower you down.” I stuck with her word. That was ages ago. I am now 13 – an unlucky number – a horrible life. I am a slave…

A scorching day shines upon us slaves in Ghana. With my new master my name is Amara. Which mean “grace.” Why. Why does it have to be us slaves. We want our freedom. Badly. Thwack! “ You keep your little mouth shut. Or guess who will be getting another vast and agonizing whip” My master. He is a grouch. He wants everything perfect. A single murmur out of our mouths would most definitely get us a horrible and painful whip. Thwack!  “ Did I not just tell you to shut your mouth and to keep it shut? ” Tears. Tears trickle down my burning cheeks. Anger flushes inside me. “ Yes Master. I am sorry.”

Gina is my best friend. A slaves upon each other’s side. She is a great friend. Whenever I miss Mama, she is there to help me out. When the anger hits me, she is right there. Gina is always their to help. Sweet and lovely. Like a tasty mango in our hot sun.

Waves pound against the sea port. Just hearing the salty water makes me even more sizzling.  I take a glance over. A vast ship has arrived. The brown ship stops. A grown man walks out of it. He is dressed very formally. In a nice and clean suit. Where did he get such… such clothes? Of course, it struck me. He was an American…

“ Who are you” questions my master. “ Hello there,” my name is Al Wylie. I come from  South Carolina. My master Mr. Jones had sent me to receive one of your slaves, sir. I shall take them back to South Carolina with me. Please sir. We shall give you some of our best sugar.”  “ You can take Amara.” “ Amara! Get your legs over here.” calls my master. “ Yes. How… how may I help?” “ Amara this is Al Wylie. He needs a few slaves. I am sending you away. Since you don’t listen to me, you can go with him to his master. Have a nice little taste of what he is like.”he snarls . “Go. go now!” I feel it again. The tears. Tears again. I am being sent away. Really? Really? Why? I think. My master and I have a very special relationship. Especially when I use sarcasem. Like I just did.

My head droops as I turned around and said a simple and gentle goodbye to a true best friend. Gina. Gina is who I will miss the most, other than my family. Gina is like a beautiful sister that I never got. All I had was three brothers. I turn away and walk ever so slowly on to the vast ship. This ship is the biggest thing I have ever seen. Other than my master. That makes my frown turn upside down. That also totally made me giggle. Because to be honest, my master is fairly small. But has a very nice amount of money.

The ship takes off to enter the everlasting and treacherous sea. Maybe if I was not such a smart mouth like my mother, I would not be on this deep and dark ship right this hour. Right this minute. Right this second. Bumpy. Bumpy is the only word that can even possible describe this one- of- a- kind ride. Waves is the cause  of this problem. Really. Along with being sent to a place that I have never been, now I feel like I am going to tumble off this ship because of how bumpy this ride is.

We arrived! Or shall I say it like we arrived. Frowny face. I have mixed feelings. Way different from when I heard my name called from my old master. This place is huge! Well, Gina always says that I have a one of a kind imaginations. Also, when I told my mama about my dreams of the future like my wanting to marry Prince Charles, she would always say ” Adina darling, you have the best imagination.” Oh how badly do I miss those days, as being a kid. Anyways. Because of my imagination, there can be like a million zillion different opinions for what characteristics you cane name or call out for this place. Personally, I have three opinions that I may name is place. It is huge. Almost like looking into a vast magnifying glass. Or like standing on top of my dreamy fairytale castle and looking into the land of mythical creatures. Next, the buildings and houses are a good quality. They are good an actual really good size masterpiece. Let me tell ya’. Some big ones are almost, oh so close to about twice the size of my Africa buildings. The last is that this place is no bigger than Ghana. Just the same size.

” Amara. Let’s go to the house” shouts out the cleanly dressed gentleman. Where in this interesting place,  am I going? Is what I am definitely thinking right at this point. We hop on to this splendid and breath-taking white carriage. The horses are a nice chocolate brown. Almost like I imagined in my land of fairytales. They were both very elegant and soft. Boy, how much I would like Gina to take a quick glare at this one of a kind ride. Because, back in Africa, we would have to walk to everywhere. That was a great exercise, but very tiring. Only the most wealthiest people would get to have and afford.

A very unkind whip it what makes the silky horses startle and freeze. They stopped. I hopped of the smooth colored carriage, to see a very vast. The windows had some pastel pink floral drapes hanging in them. The way the sun shined on the lemon yellow house was like shining a bright light on a bright cherry colored ruby. The way it sparkles, just… just pops out to you. It is magnificent. Are these people rich. My luckiest guess would be that they definitely are rich. if you saw those plantations in the back, there are 2 to 3 times the size of our plantations. That is all my mother wished for, big plantations.

I enter. I enter the mansion. “ Sir, this is Ama-” “ Please, please call me Adina “ “ Alright then. Sir this is Adina. She is ready to work. I apologize for the extended ride that we absoulotly had to take

For my birthday this year, I got a new pet. I got a bunny! His name is Max. He is a Holland Lop and is white with splashes of brown. He is adorable. My bunny is only 2 months olds. He is very fast. In the basement we have carpet. That is where we keep him. We let him out to run free, it takes us like 15 minutes to catch him. Although he may not bite, he still thinks he can. Today we just moved him into a better cage for bunnies. Now he has to get used to us and the new cage. I feel so bad for him. I really love him. Take a lot at these pictures of Max the bunny.

Dear my fellow friend,

I am a citizen of Lexington. On April 19th, 1775 there was the fight between the Redcoats and the Lexington colonists. This was one of the most horrible fights that I had ever seen yet! You yourself, asked if another battle between them, could be avoided? I totally think that it could be avoided. The Redcoats came to the colonists looking for arms. They didn’t get what they wanted at all. Sooner or later, the Lexington colonist won the battle. I think the Redcoats learned that they messed with the colonists too much. The fight can definitely be avoided for my opinion.

Sincerely,

A citizen of Lexington, MA

A trip to Antarctica could be considered a great adventure for many reasons. First, going to Antarctica in November you could see the penguins start to court and mate. Or, going to Antarctica in February could see the whales at the time that they are most active. In this time you can also see the cute penguin chicks leave their nests.  A next part on why a tip to Antarctica would be a great adventure is because of the way to get there. Just by taking a boat or flying in a plane can be a great adventure. Taking a boat could be a great adventure because it is very easy to get seasick. Plus there is the Drake Passage to pass by. The Drake Passage is only once in awhile calm. The plane rid would be a great adventure also, because a lot of the times in Antarctica, there are horrible blizzards. Getting caught through a blizzard is a really bad thing. When you are stuck in a major blizzard, your flight will either be delayed or you will be landing right away. A trip to Antarctica would be one of he greatest adventures yet.
