I’ve decided to present a screencast over how to edit the sound files in Scratch to your own personal preference using free external software.  One aspect that I found interesting about this project is how many takes one needs to get one that is satisfactory, even when doing a presentation over a familiar subject. I think the screencast is however still a very useful tool for instruction, as I have learned a great amount from watching screencast tutorials over various subjects. I feel that the screencast could be  great in the classroom as well, not only for the teacher but for perhaps student projects as well.

I found my recent viewing of  Tony Vincents presentation on mobile learning to be quite intriguing to say the least. It was really great to see someone go so in depth on the subject and think so openly and creatively about it. To add to this, one  of the greatest things about it is that he is only explaining the very surface of the topic and that there are so many more possibilities in this area.

I found this particular presentation to be somewhat of an eye opener for myself as well and has sparked me to re examine the potential of my mobile device.  I have of course seen the numerous amounts of apps that are available for these devices. However Tony Vincents presentation has caused me to better see the potential of using apps together.

I can certainly see these ideas as a wonderful and logical integrations into the class room for several reasons. The technology is familiar. It’s interface is fairly simple and administrators would likely be for it as well considering the cost of these devices are significantly lower than bringing laptops into the classroom.  All of these things and more make mobile technology a great candidate for the classroom.

There appears to be a movement for a new type of presentation. One which is more fast paced and more engaging to the audience. A new format called the Pecha Kucha seems to meet these criteria. The Pecha Kucha consists of twenty slides lasting for twenty seconds before moving to the next. this creates a definite presentation length of  6  minutes and 40 seconds.

Through the process of studying this format and developing one of my own, I was able to discover skills that I wouldnt have necessarily used with a traditional power point presentation.  Overall the presentation seems to cause one to change the way they develop their slides. A person may find themselves searching for images and developing slides that will best compliment what they are discussing, rather than slides that do the presenting for them. I beleive what I’ve learned most from this project is that when giving a presentation,  it is important to speak passionately about your topic. When one does this the thoughts and ideas will flow more naturally and the slides turn into “visual exciters” regarding the topic as well as supporting evidence to ensure that  the audience sees that the presenter is not just speaking of opinion.

Since I am still uncertain about my career goals it is difficult to determine what applications I  might use the Pecha Kucha for in the classroom if I follow the path of education. However, I do certainly see many applications that  it could have in any classoom. For example, it could allow a teacher to get lectures presented in a more timely and effecient fashion and on the student side of things it encourages them to think more creatively when working on a presentaion rather then focus on mostly statistics.

Alright,  for my final scratch project I’ve decided to make a quick story using some of the Scratch skills I’ve acquired so far. I’ve also learned to do many new things while working on the this project as well.  I still think Scratch has a lot of potential and there’s a good chance I’ll probably play with it some more sometime.  I hope you enjoy my latest scratch project The Adventures of Puppy and Gobo

So now that  I realize were to to put this thing  I’d like to share with you my second scratch project. The platform is simple, I’m still just exploring around a bit with it. However it seems to show more potential each time I use it. Also, I did a bit of editing to the Skratch sound files outside of Skratch to make them work the way needed them to. I Please enjoy my project  Dance Breaker
