I learned so much using scratch. It definitely takes time to do and you need to have patience to do it. It can be very fun working with your imagination! I can see how kids would get addicted to this very quickly. I learned that having an idea of how the project will go is a lot better than just thinking something off the top of your head. Over all I like scratch, like I said before it is a little frustrating and you have to have some patience with it but it was fun.

Teaching Kids to Think Using Scratch helped me to really think about how new technology can help kids learn in different ways. As a teacher I can be more effective if I have more skills with technology and that a lot of technology does not have to be difficult to learn or manage. This can help kids learn a lot about math, coordinates, planes, basic geometry and much more. They made it from being just a math thing to a game that kids can make their own stories through scratch.

Scratch is seen to be more like a video game to kids then a project that they have to do. To me it would appeal much more to younger kids, which would help me out tremendously since I am an Elementary Education major. It would be beneficially to the children because they would also get to learn a little bit more about the computer and technology and how learning can be fun!

I know when my nephew is old enough I will show him scratch and he will be so excited to learn and play with it. My aunt teaches 4th grade and has started a blog site with her kids, but when I told her about scratch she was really interested in it. I showed her everything I knew about working it and she has been building on it since then. She is excited to try and incorporate scratch into some of her classroom ideas.

Tony Vincent created a great video, informing us about Project Based Learning in Hand. I think he has some great ideas about how technology can be incorporated into a positive learning environment. It got me thinking about many ways that I can use an iPad or itouch to bring a new and fun way of learning. Instead of just standing in front of a PowerPoint and talking about the vice president; he used it in a way that children can go back and watch it as many times as they need to, to get the information that was said. He also helped teachers who are just learning about these new ways by giving examples of different apps they could use. After just a little bit of practice and preparation by the teacher they can sit back and enjoy the work they have done, just as much as the kids have.

For my Final scratch project I tried to create a cute and funny scratch. It actually took a lot more time then  I expected. I learned a lot about using scratch! It is very difficult to get learning it on your own but with due time you can definitely learn a lot just playing with it.

My first scratch project is very basic, but I am not very technologically advanced and this seemed very advanced to me, but I thought it was fun and made me dizzy just looking at it. =)  I it called BEE FLYING
