The Perfect Day at the Beach
Project Based Learning in Hand by Tony Vincent is a good video that gives us a good look in to project based learning and how efective it can be. My biggest takeaway from this video will haft to be the technology that is available to help student with projects. Vincent showed is many diffetrent websites and applications that can be used to create a project. This video also shows some new wasy to make learning fun for kids and use things that they enjoy useing.
The idea of project based is learning is something I have seen all of my life. Getting students and groups and getting them to wrok together to create a project is very essential in a classroom. i think that this is a good and dfiifernt way of learning. I did not have the acess to they type of technology that students have today but it still implemtents the same type of learning skills.
Watching this video just goes to show you the amount of technology that is out there for students to use for learning purposes. Vincent created that entire presentation on is ipod tough which is pretty amazaing. This video helps me realize that there are a variety of ways of doing things and to explore the different options to make your class more relevant and exciting.
Project Based Learning in Hand
This assignment was somethig new that I had not done before. This was a good project to do because it taught me a new easy way to show students what I am trying to get them to do. If they see me do it maybe it will make it easier for them. In my screencast I introduced Scratch and some of the basics like the control, looks and motion. I also showed how to imoprt backgrounds and sprites. I am glad that i learned how to do screencast and think that they can be benficial in the classroom.
Screencast for Scratch
How He Won the Game is what I did for my second Scratch project. After completing this project I realized how difficult this is. At the same time I’m becoming more familiar with it. I also realized that there is an amazing amount of things that go in to programing.
A Petcha Kutcha presentaiton is an oral presentaion that includes 20 slides that move every 20 seconds. The slides need to have full size images on them that realte to the topic your are talking about. The topic can be over anything as long as the idea is relavent. the difference between a great presentation and an ok presentation is having the right format and being prepared for the presentaion as wel as possible.
There were many skills that I took away from this project. I got good practice in finding copyright friendly pictures. I also learned a new good way to give presentaions the are out of the ordinary. Then I also got practice on talking infront of a class which I will be doing some day.
A Petcha Kutcha presentation can be very useful in the classroom. it gives students may different learning areas at once. being a history teacher it could igve students a new way of learning about a specific subject. It can also be beneficial for the students to get experience in giving presentations infront of a group of people. Then you are also teaching your students about copyright laws and other material that is ok to use.
