Setting: Carbon City
Character’s: Josh, Wille, and Aunt Ethel
The book starts with Josh getting off the bus in Carbon City and waiting at the bus staiton. (which is just a sign) Josh is in Carbon City for the summer because his mom and stepdad went to India for the summer and Josh couldn’t go. Josh was not happy about that because, they just moved into there new house and, Josh was still trying to make friends. He tried out for the summer Baseball team and made it! But couldn’t go. So that put Josh in a bad mood. Aunt Ethel came and picked Josh up in an old rusty truck that didn’t have seat belts, Aunt Ethel is wearing a hot pink ball gown! When Josh gets to her house, theres a bat. Aunt Ethel shoots and kills it. She made Josh a welcoming cake because, she makes cakes for a living. But, they cant eat the cake because there is blood all over it. Josh goes to bed. When he wakes up he heres this loud sceaming from outside. He gets up and runs down stairs and sees a Peacock on the front porch. Aunt Ethel tells him that that is her sister Floice that had died a few months back. Florice told her sister that when she died she would come back as Peacock. So Aunt Ethel thinks the Peacock is Florice. Aunt Ethel tells Josh that there is a tree house in the woods. Aunt Ethel tells Josh that when she was little she used to play the tree house with Florice until Florice got scard and said she saw a ghost and wouldn’t go back there. Josh takes his box of books. The next day when he goes to the tree house he notices that his books wernt in the same place he put them. Then he sees a ghost. He is scard of the ghost at first but then becomes friends. He learns that the ghost name is Wille. Wille tells Josh that he was a coal minner and that he lost his leg in an exspolstion that later killed him and lots of other minners. Wille was trying to talk to Florice because he always wanted his leg burred with the rest of his body. Wille tells Josh where his leg is and Josh digs it up and bures it with the rest of his body. Wille is finally at peace after a long time. Reading this book made me learn that not all Ghost are mean. I really like that Josh and Wille become friends and, Wille gets to rest in peace. I recomend this book because it makes you come back for more!

War Horse is about a horse that got sold when he was really little. He cryed for his mother, she yelled back but couldn’t do anything about it. He now lives on a farm. On this farm theres a boy who thinks he can train this horse. The boy made a bet that he could train the horse to plow, because he thinks he is ready. Then one day America declare war with the Germans at eleven o’clock. I have not read much of this book, but it has been really good! I can make a conection where I was in the horses pusition, because I went to a farm for a week and learned how to ride a horse for my first time! On my second try I got to ride the horse by myself! It was hard but, I just kept trying and never gave up! Till next time!
