Chile’s population is around 16.6 million and is growing at about .9 percent. That is one of the lowest grow rates in South America.89% of the population lives in urban areas of Chile. More than 1 out of 3 people live in the capital, Santiago, Chile. Chile’s total area is about 292,000 square miles which is larger than Texas. OH MY GOODNESS! Chile is very beautiful it is mostly an urban country but there is a lot of farm and cropland.

I’ve learned that in Chile many of the natives speak their own Indian language in addition to Spanish. Many food dishes are made with seafood, chicken, beef, beans, and corn. Their favorite foods are empanadas and fruit. Chile’s holidays include New Year’s eve, Easter, Labor Day, Independence Day, Armed Forces Day, Day of the Race, All Saints Day and Christmas. Skiing in the Andes mountains is popular. They also enjoy tennis, basketball, and horse racing. Did you know that they won the world cup in 1973. Pedro De Valdivia was the founder of Santiago the Capital of Chile. Their terms are 5 years instead of 4 like ours. Chile is cool!

What is the family like, do they live with their extended family?

What kind of toys and games are the most popular?
