Using the active expressions was the best part of the year. The video conferences were cool too. We also had really cool projects. Nothing was really hard. This year I learned more math and I am better at it than I was at the begining of the year.

                 The popcorn monster!!!!!

Hi I’m, Taylor and I’m going to tell you about my encounter with the popcorn monster. The popcorn monster only eats popcorn…. He only eats popcorn for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Wouldn’t that get boring?  At 1:00AM till 6:30AM you can hear a pop…pop..pop…pop….pop…pop.

He is slime blue with a purple tongue and yellow teeth, and can normally be found with a bag of popcorn. When he goes back in to the closet in my room it smells like popcorn. When I wake up I look in the closet but no one is ever there. Sometimes I see a blue thing sneaking out of the back of the closet so one night I decided to follow it.

      Here is my story.

One night I was laying in bed when I smelt … Guess what it was? Popcorn! When I smelt the popcorn I opened my eyes I could see a faint blue thing going into my closet and it left a long trail of popcorn. I decided to follow that popcorn. The popcorn led me to the back of my…. opened closet? Wait the back of my closet was open I must have been dreaming. I went through the back of my opened closet and instead of the blue monster it was pink, hot pink as a matter of fact and in its hair it had a purple bow. It looked exactly like the blue one except it seemed to be a girl. At that point I was freaked out and from over the pink monsters shoulders (I named her Pinky.)I could see more monsters!

1834- Dorchester County, Maryland

Today I went to the store to do a favor for my master. When I got to the store there was a white man there with a slave I did not know. The white man told me to hold the slave so he could talk to the store owner. I refused, bought the items I needed to get and walked out.

I left the store thinking just how mistreated we blacks are, something interrupted my thinking a ruckus from inside the store, I heard people shouting, I heard a gun go off, and then I saw the slave run out of the store. I had no time to think about what was going on because right when I started to think about things, everything went black.

When I woke up I found myself at my plantation with people standing around me. I only knew a couple of them, and they told me what had happened. What had happened was that when the slave ran out he ran in front of me and the white man threw a two pound weight that was supposed to hit the other slave but it hit me in the head instead.

In 1820 Harriet Tubman was born in Dorchester County, Maryland. She was 6 the first time she was rented. In 1831 she was 11 and she heard stories of the Underground Railroad.

In 1834 Harriet Tubman got hurt by an overseer who threw a 2 pound weight that was supposed to hit another slave but it hit her in the head instead, this caused her to have really bad seizures so her owner set her free. In 1844 she got married to John Tubman.

In 1849 Harriet Tubman escaped from the Brodes plantation to the Underground Railroad and worked in a hotel in Philadelphia. Then Harriet Tubman plotted with William Still to rescue her sister, brother-in-law, and their two kids in 1850. A year later  Harriet Tubman went on the Underground Railroad a second time with her brother.

About six years later Harriet Tubman rescued her parents from the plantation and brought them North. Then  Harriet Tubman met Captain John Brown. He called her General Tubman. Then together in 1859 they raided Harper’s Ferry in Virginia.

In 1860 Harriet Tubman met Charles Nalle in Troy, New York. She made her last trip to Maryland and fled to Canada.  In 1861 she traveled to Port Royal at Governor Andrews’s recommendation.

In 1862 The Emancipation Proclamation was announced by President Lincoln. She served as scout to Colonel James Montgomery. Then accompanied Montgomery in raids along the Combahee River.

In 1865 Harriet Tubman returned to Auburn, New York. Then in 1867 Harriet Tubman heard of the death of John Tubman.

In 1869 Harriet Tubman married Nelson Davis. Sarah Bradford published Scenes in the Life of Harriet Tubman. Then in 1886 Sarah Bradford writes a second Tubman biography, Harriet, the Moses of Her People.

Harriet Tubman’s husband Nelson Davis died on October 14, 1888. A year later Harriet Tubman received twenty dollars because of his death.

In 1903 Harriet Tubman handed over her home and 25-acre property to the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Auburn, New York. In 1913 Harriet Tubman died on March 10.
