My project was about which substance melted the ice the fastest. We had to pick something to do for the science fair at pioneer ridge for sixth graders. My partner was Logan; she helped a lot and made the experiment enjoyable to do! It was an interesting project because it was cool to see the ice melting with each substance. Sugar, sand, salt, and pepper. I think that our hypothesis was pretty good. We thought we should go with salt. It won, so our hypothesis was correct. The hypothesis was that salt would be the one that melted the ice the fastest.

The project took about a day to complete, after finalizing the whole thing and putting pictures in order from start to finish, we put steps, the procedure, and materials on a tri fold board to tie it all together. Over all it looked really professional. We did a good job on making it look nice, even though it was a school project, it was fun to conduct!

We learned a lot about the experiment. First, we had to find out which substance we thought would win. That took a while to think about.  We had to remember which substance has what things inside. The salt had the most sodium so we thought that would melt the ice better than the others.  The sodium makes the ice cube jiggle around inside and break off particles. Having that knowledge, made us think more and more about salt winning.  That is how we thought about our hypothesis.

I don’t think that we should have done anything differently, we did an awesome job and it was so much fun. This wasn’t a difficult project; the tricky part was placing information onto the tri fold board to make it look good. Other than that, the research was easy to find & the project was easy to do. If I could do it again, I wouldn’t change anything except for putting the timer in the pictures to make ordering the pictures from solid to completely melted easier.  This science fair was memorable.

The book shows nine sons going from doing something bad; to good. I am pretending to be the tenth sibling, a daughter named Lauren. This is taking something she does wrong and changing it into something pretty cool! After the story there is a link where you can actually read the story, the page number is 592. It might make a little more sense after reading it. The story is awesome. Enjoy!

When the dragon king returned home, one of his guards told him he had heard a rumor. The villagers in his daughter’s Lauren’s province said all she did was be stubborn. Even though Lauren lived in a remote part of the country, the Dragon King once again donned his disguise and made his way to his daughter’s home. As he approached, a servant came running from the house.

“Oh, most revered king!” cried the servant. “The seventh daughter does nothing all day, nothing at all, but be stubborn and refuse to quit. This does not seem befitting for the daughter of the Dragon King!” Several villagers nervously nodded. The king pondered thoughts and wondered what to do with such a daughter. He was about to scold her when he realized that with his temperament, Lauren would be well suited for a position where she can use her intelligence. The daughter thought for a moment and let out a huge smile. “Why that sounds interesting. What were you thinking about?” “You need to become the first female president of the United States!” “I like that idea dad! Thanks!”

And today, you can still find Lauren being stubborn, prepared to never give up, she went on to become the president of the United States. She was very pleased, but it didn’t stop there – she eventually took over the entire world! She is known forever for never being called a ‘quitter.’
