The Iciest Experiment
Well the 6th graders at PRMS had a science fair! We could either do it alone or in a group up to three people. I had a partner, her name is Lauren Well, what Lauren and I did for our school science fair was “What makes ice melt fastest, Sugar, Salt Pepper or Sand?”
We learned many things doing this project. We found out that ice is made up from molecules stuck together, when heat hits these molecules they start to jiggle around until finally they break apart and this is where the melting stage begins.
The experiment took about a day to conduct. After we did the experiment we learned that salt was the one that melted the ice the fastest. We did a total of two trials. On trial one it took about 32.5 minutes for the salt to melt the ice. On the second trial it took 34.2 minutes for the salt to melt the ice. We concluded that the air temperatures changed between the two trials.
After getting the pictures from the experiment, Lauren bought the tri-fold board and we posted our notes, pictures, data and steps on the board. We made it look good and we decorated it well, not too much color, but just enough.
If I had to redo this project I would probably get it done sooner have it done earlier than we did it this time. But Lauren and I chose an enjoyable topic to do research on and do.

Hello, I read a book a few weeks ago and it is an awesome, sad, heartwarming story about a 12 year old 6th grade girl and her mother who move into a trailer, but Addie is waiting for normal.
But Addie’s mom has an all-or-nothing approach to life a full of food or nothing, happiness or sadness, her way or no way. Addie misses her half-sisters; all she wants to do is be with them and her ex- stepdad Dwight, Addie quickly makes friends at school and at the local Mini Mart, Soula (a woman who is fighting a losing battle with cancer) and Elliot, the man who helps her manage the store. But Addie’s not worried about bad grades or not remembering to practice the flute, she’s worried if her mother will be home to bring more groceries for dinner or if she will come home at all. In spite of life’s twists and turns, Addie remains happy. Someday, maybe, she’ll find normal.
