In The Wizard Heir by Cinda Williams Chima a 16 year old boy named Seph is sent to a public school after having a couple of magical accidents. But when he finds out what the head master is really planing, Seph needs to find a way out of the school without getting killed! When he’s in the school he meets up with a wizard who was told to stay in the basement; then he disappears one day. After Seph gets out he meets with his mom and gets involved with a wizard resistance. I would recommend this book, but you should read the first book in the series first called The  Warrior  Heir.
