This time I’m sailing for England again. We got to Nova Scotia this time and found a strait that hopefully leads to Asia. I think I will call this the Hudson Strait. We came upon a huge bay that I thought would be the Pacific Ocean. There is no way out. Some of the crew are getting restless. I can’t believe they threw me and my son off the ship! I guess this is the end: I wonder if they will call this bay after me.

Yes, the Dutch hired me and we will sail on the Half moon. So we sail north, but eventually it got cold. They threatened to take over unless we sailed south. We went south across the Atlantic and landed in Newfoundland. We sailed down the Hudson River till we came to New York. This is not a shorter route to Asia, but it would be a good place to settle.

It’s cold, brrrr! I said to my crew shivering,”Let’s go back to London. It’s so-cold! We can’t get through because of ice bergs again.” Who will hire me after two failed voyages? The Muscovy Company won’t hire me that’s for sure! At least we discovered an island north of Russia called Novaya Zemlya.

As Captain of my ship the Hopewell, my crew and I set sail Northeast to find land faster across the Arctic Ocean. When we got there we couldn’t go farther north because it was too hard to get past the huge ice berg. It was very cold and the crew complained. At least we made one discovery Spitzberger, Greenland.

While on my horse riding past two men, I heard them say,”I wonder if there is a faster way to India and Asia?” That has got me wondering maybe a crew and I should go and find a faster way. When I got home I told my son John Hudson,”Get your stuff packed. Were’re going on an adventure!” “Yes, Sir!” Said John.
