In 1497 I was given an additional 20 pounds per year. In 1498 I was given an additional patent to help me prepare for my second expedition. Thomas Bradley and John Cair accompanied me as well. I left with 5 ships from Bristol at the beginning of May which had been prepared by the King. Some ships were carrying cloth, caps, lace points, and other ‘trifles.’
I was commissioned by another country. After Henry the Navigator’s voyage to find another way to Africa. A lot of explorers headed in that direction. I had a plan I would start from a northerly latitude where the longitudes are closer so that my journey will be shorter. Carbonariis accompanied me on my on my expedition in 1498. On August 10th the King gave me a reward of 20 pounds.
In 1494 I moved to Seville. I gave a proposal about building a stone bridge over Guadalquivir. It was contracted to be built, and it was worked on for five months. Then it was abandoned on December 24, 1494. I found a supporter for my Atlantic expedition in Seville before moving to England. Then in 1497 I discovered North America! Some people thought that I was going to arrive at England in the middle of 1498.
In 1484 I married Mattea and we had two sons. We named them Sebastian and Sancto. While I was in Venice I built houses. It was so fun! In the late 1800s I had financial problems so I moved to Valencia. While I was there some creditors tried to arrest me, and they sent a letter of recommendation to justice to the authorities.
