What have you learned this year.

This year I learned multiplication in math.  When we do 5×5 we build an array. An array is a rectangle. A  5 by 5 array is 5 long and 5 wide. It helps us count by 5s.

Can your students tell me about some good math games that I can use with my students in Winooski?

Dear Ms. Kirsten,

I have a good math game for your students. The game is Hawaiian Vacation. First, you get money. Next, you get dice. then you roll the dice. If you get 3,  you move 3 spaces. But if you get somewhere   that has a star, that means you have to buy whatever is on that space. Your students will learn how to count money. This game will help you later in life.

What did you learn in math last week?

Last week in math, we learned lots of games that helped us subtract. Anything But 5 is my favorite game in math. First  you roll dice, next you get your two numbers, you add those numbers, then you write your number. You get to choose to roll again if you don’t roll a 5. You add all your numbers then you get to subtract from 95. This game helps me subtract numbers.

Do video games help you understand math better?

Some video games do not help me learn. Fighting games do not make me smart. Some video games help me learn. Math  games like math blaster help me learn math. So I like math games.

Is math your favorite subject? Why or why not?

Math is my favorite subject. Math is everywhere. It helps you solve problem. It helps you learn more. I like math.
