Middle school students need recess.  What happened to it? Who decided that kids 12-15 years old don’t need time to run around or play or simply engage in some unstructured free time activity and why was it decided? Most likely, Middle schools would report that advisory time has replaced recess.  Here are three reasons why middle school students need recess back.  First, Kids need the exercise that recess provides.  Secondly, recess allows you to burn calories to stay fit.  Finally, it can help de-stress you.

Kids need the exercise that recess provides. Exercise strengthens bones and muscles. You can play games like knockout, tag, wall ball, and football or do some other thing. I mean kids obviously don’t burn any calories planted in a chair, right?

Still not convinced? Here’s another good reason. Recess allows you to burn calories to stay fit.  Mrs. Doran thinks running around for 25 minutes must burn at least 200 calories.  Mandating recess would be the first, and best step to helping kids burn calories and get fit.

Recess energizes you and gives kids the mental energy you need to get through the day.  Mental energy takes a downfall throughout the day without recess.  Recess distresses you. Recess improves classroom behavior. Kids have stressful lives. Recess lets you release your stress. Throwing out recess is throwing out social lives in school.

Recess is necessary to middle schools everywhere.

The short-eared owl is awake mostly during the day. Its diet is voles, moles, shrews, rabbits and sometimes birds. They breed in Northern Europe. It leaves its nest when it’s 14-18 days old and fledges 24-27 days after birth. They live mostly in (only counting the USA) Illinois. Thier wingspan is 3 1/2 feet. While flying the male claps its wings.

It lives on a rocky bottom. It’s electric. It can also camouflage with the other rocks. It eats krill and seaweed. It has baleen. *It doesn’t move. It’s predator is the false killer whale. Here’s how it’s gets its food:the fish see the starfish as easy prey so they dive in but the blackhole in the illusional starfish sucks them (the food) threw a straw like tube.
