Poems
By:Jordana
I am a poem
You know me for my rhyming
I live until my words get old
My best friend is strong vocabulary
Because it makes me interesting
I fear the needles used to write on me (pencils)
Because it hurts to be hit by a sharp point
I love when people compliment me
Because it makes my writer proud
I dream that my writing never gets old to people
I hope you enjoyed my poem about poem’s
Bibi!!!!!!!
I love this, Jordana! Quite interesting is the “My best friend is strong vocabulary” part. It made me giggle. Great job. I’m sure Mrs. Kaplan would be so happy to see that you made this up at home.
Thank you Mrs. Kolbert and i am glad you liked it because i tried to make it interesting without having a teacher look at it first like in class
Jordana,
I hope your classmates, too, appreciate your poetic post for its own sake as well. I shared Mrs. Kolbert’s class blogs with my students the other day and please know that you and your peers serve as inspiration and example as we start our class blogging. Keep up your online efforts!

Mr. Miller,
What a great compliment. Jordana sure does have a special talent and the fact that she can publish for an authentic audience has, I believe, helped her see the value in writing even when not in school. I’m so pleased that you are sharing our work with your students. Please keep us posted on how it goes. If your students start to blog, we’d love to visit their blogs, too.
Mrs. Kolbert
Hi Jordana,
Great poem! I think that the words in this poem will live a long-long time.

Jordana, that is stunning! You have a very creative way of using images and words. Have you thought about putting a collection of poetry together into a little book, or a blog just on poetry?
Jordana,
This is an excellent piece of writing! My favorite part was the use of the word “needles” to describe pencils. Such fantastic use of figurative language! I am so glad that you loved the “I Am” assignment so much that you wanted to do your own at home. That is something we teachers desire to see from all our students. I know you have made your teacher very proud! I can’t wait to see more of your writing through your blog. Good job!
Dear Poem,
I don’t think your words will ever get old, especially with such an interesting best friend!
Your writer should be extremely proud!

Hi Jordana,
I am very impressed with your poem! I loved that you showed readers the elements that make a great poem (rhyming, strong vocabulary, imagery w/the pencil description). That was a very unique and creative way to express what poetry means to you. Keep up the great work!

Hi Jordana,
I found your poem after Mrs Kolbert wrote about it online. I am a teacher in the UK and I am very impressed with your writing, especially as you have done this lovely poem at home.
I can’t wait to show my class. I just know you will inspire them too!
Well done!
Jordana,
I hope you will always use the powerful art of writing to express yourself and share your thoughts and experiences with others. You are a very talented young lady. Good work.

Jordana,
I am MOST impressed with your writing ability! It amazes me that one so young could write with such artistry. The images you created through your poem were very vivid in my mind. I believe you are destined to be a published writer some day. Keep up the good work!
