Boy are you lucky to be in Mrs Kolbert’s 4th grade class! Mrs. Kolbert is a great teacher because she is not strict, she does great things on the computer, and she does “hands on” projects with you. Get ready to learn about all these exceptional things as you enter Mrs. Kolbert’s classroom door.
Did you ever have a strict and boring teacher in your prior school years? How did that make you feel about going to school? I bet this was really bad for you. Well, Mrs. Kolbert is none of the above. She never gets mad or yells at any student unless he/she does something really, really bad. In fact, I have never witnessed her yelling or getting mad at any student during the time I was with her in class. If you do misbehave, she will call you over and explain to you in a calm manner what you did wrong.
“Click ,type, click, type, click, type” are things you will hear in Mrs. Kolbert’s class every day. In the morning she makes “wordles” on the computer which are random words describing a topic that you are learning about. The class has to guess what the topic of the “wordle” is. This is a fun approach to learning and is not boring such as reading right out of a textbook.
Mrs. Kolbert uses the computer in extraordinary ways. In school we created videos using stock motion which allows you to describe a topic using pictures and sound. She also video chats on the computer with famous people that we can learn from. Another fun thing she does on the computer is look up a topic using the internet and then we have to write a post about what we learned. She teaches us how to create our own blogs using “kid blog” and how to get comments back from our peers.
Another awesome activity we do in Mrs. Kobert’s class is “hands on projects.” For example we used a string and colored markers to make a model of how far the planets are away from each other. This made work visual and exciting!
In all, you can see Mrs. Kolbert is a fabulous and creative teacher. Be prepared to get “wowed” by Mrs. Kolbert. Good luck in 4th grade!
