In Mrs.Kolberts 4rth grade class, be ready take a journey with technology. Mrs. Kolbert uses many computer programs, as well as other electronics. You feel like your diving in the ocean with Phillipe Custeau when you video conference with him, or as if you were in a lab with Erika Ebbel when you talk to her. Mrs. Kolbert also lets us create scientific videos and even have our own blogs! Some programs she uses are voicethread and Gizmos. In science, she does many fun experiments. Mrs.Kolbert is an awesome teacher. I hope you like her too!
In Mrs.Kolberts class, she seperated the class into groups of three or four and asked each group to make a video on a scientific subject. One of these groups was that of Santiago, Elle, Maria, and Kyle. They worked on the video for about a week and finished May 22, 2010. You can see it in the class blog.
How they breath fire
Dragons use their firebladder to breath fire. In their foua, they store gases, which then mix with flammable chemicals in the firebladder to create an oily flame.
The Body Structure
Mucles and Scales
Dragons have a short sturdy skull that acommodates powerful mustles. These mustles are caped with a thick layer of skin protected with scales. The scales are densly packed cells made of extremely tough keratin.
The Wings
The dragons wing is a strong, leathery appendage that helps a dragon take off. The wings structure is basically like another arm protruding from in between the two shoulder blades. They have a joint, a long “arm” structure, a short “thumb” and 4 elongated “fingers.” This is all coated with a thin layer of skin to catch the air.
Please comment!
I love snakes, particularly venomous ones. One of my favorite species is the facinating Black-necked spitting cobra. It is well known for it’s lethal venom that can prove fatal to humans and it’s ability to project venom at it’s enemies, as well as the “hood” that it unfolds to scare away predators. It is truly a fasinating reptile.
The venom of the Black-necked spitting cobra(Naja Nigricollis)is the characteristics of the may African spitting cobras. It retains elapid neurotoxic properties, and can have many effects on humans. Bite syntoms may include severe external hemorrhaging and tissue necrosis around the bite area. In addition, as its name suggests, the N.nigricollis is able to project venom at poential threats. Cobras have a habit of “spitting” poison in between the victims eyes. I believe this is because the venom can irritate skin and eyes. All cobras are best known for the hoods they unfold when startled. When feeling threatend, it raises its hood, hoping that its opponent will flee. If this doesn’t work, it attacks. Even though dangerous the Black-necked spitting cobra is an incredibly intresting creature. What do you think?Perching high up in a tall oak tree
Taking to air with newfound glee
Eggshells cracking nearby
A joyful flutter, an unheard cry
