For Field Day, Our class is representing the country Djibouti. Not many people know about the country but I thought you (my blog readers) would like to know about it.

Djibouti’s capital is Djibouti (city). A 2009 estimate of Djibouti’s (country) population showed there was only about 864,000 people living there!!!! WOW! In Djibouti they speak mostly Arabic and French. Their President is Ismail Omar Guelleh and their Prime Minister is Dileita Mohamed Dileita.

In Djibouti, their economy is poor. Many people there face food shortages and hunger. There is not much rainfall in Djibouti so, it is hard to grow crops for food.

The religion in Djibouti is mostly Islam. 94% of people are Islam and only 6% are Christians! Talk about not much variety!!

The climate in Djibouti is mostly hot and arid. They have many beautiful beaches too because of the climate. Also, the people in Djibouti wear usually t-shirts and jeans because of the hotness.

Finally, You might be interested in seeing their Flag and Coat of arms.

    Jessica,
You really provided some great information on Djibouti. Where did you find the information? Do you think the fact that it has a very dry climate and so they don’t have many crops contributes to the country being very poor? Good job!

    Jessica,

Great post about Djibouti! Do you know how they came to speak French there?
  3. Jessica
Ms.Pohanka, They speak French because France use to rule Djibouti until 1977.
