The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George is a great book.  It’s about a girl named Kit that has to move to Connecticut.  She has to go live with her aunt and uncle.  Her uncle really mean.  But the bad part is that Kit is called a witch and everybody hates her because she could swim and you were not supposed to be able to swim in the 1600′s.

If I could rate this book from 1-10, I would rate it a 4 because I dont really like historical fiction.  If you like witches and historical fiction books this would be the book for you.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a great book.  It’s all about two kids [Katniss and Peta] that get picked in something called a reaping.  The reaping is when a boy and a girl get picked out of two glass balls.  Then they get sent to an arena for the hunger games.  The hunger games is a reminder to teach all the districts a lesson that there in charge.  There can only be one winner.  You’re going to have to read the book to get more information.

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this a 10.  If you like realistic fiction books that have action in it you would probably like this book.

White-Water Rafting is an informational book written by Charles and Linda George.  It was published by Capstone Press in 1999.  This book explains the type of rafts, motions of paddling, and the parts of a raft.  It also explains the difficulty of a river, the parts of a river, and the type of waves.

I learned that rafters have to wear a helmet in case they fall.  Rafters have to rate the difficulty of a river too.  The ratings are called classes.  Class I and II are easy, Class III-IV are considered advanced, and Class V and VI are for expert rafters.  Class VI are the most dangerous.   Rafters also have to move their paddles a certain way so they can maneuver their raft through the river.

My opinion on this book is not a good one.  On a scale of 1-10 , I would rate it a 2.   Unfortunately, I do not like books full of facts.   They are boring to me.  If it was a story about a white-water rafting adventure I might have liked it better.  If you like White-Water Rafting then you might like this book.

My book is called Favorite Greek Myths by Mary Pope Osborne.  This book tells you 12 diffrent mythes and one of them is The Four Tasks, and it is about Cupid and Psyche, and they fall in love and Psyche has to kill Cupid,  and befor she does he wakes up.  You’ll have to read it to find out.

If  i could rate this book i would rate it 10 of 10,  because it is very well detaild.  I recomend this book to people who like traditional literature books.

At Last

by James Stevenson

Dogs go in the back seat,

Always in the back seat,

Miles in the back seat,

Hours in the back seat.

But in parking lots of shopping centers,

You’ll see : Dogs get their chance

At last

To drive.

This poem came from the book, Popcorn, by James Stevenson. I chose this poem because it reminded me of vacation when we brought the dog with us, and he always stayed in the back . This poem is free verse so it was kind of hard for me to understand.

I think the poet wrote this poem because it might happen to him in his car. I could probably recite this poem to the class, because it’s easy to remember.
