This book is called Pie by Sarah Weeks.  It is about a girl, a boy, mom, dad, and aunt.  One day Aunt Polly was a little girl and she was with her mom baking pies and her mom told her she had an active mind.  Then she died a few months later.  Aunt Polly grew up making pies and she was so good at it she opened a new shop of hers called Pie. One day Alice (Aunt Polly’s niece) came to her pie shop and helped with some of the crust on each pie.  Eventually she got so good she started making more pies for Aunt Polly.  Then Aunt Polly when she was older died.  Aunt Polly had a cat named Lardo.  The reason why she named her cat Lardo is because she used a white material called Lardo and she used it to make her pie crusts.  What happened to the pie shop and Lardo?

On a scale of one to ten, I would give this book a ten because it was very good and interesting.  If you like pie and realistic fiction this is the book for you!!!

This book is called The Secret School by Avi.  This book is about a teacher and her students.  One day Ada (student) went to school and their principal said that their teacher’s mom was very ill.  She had to leave for the rest of  the year to go take care of of her mom.  Before she left she was very upset because her mom had a stroke and almost died.  Everyone told their parents that school was cancelled but, Ada’s mom and dad said that she could be the teacher for the rest of the year.  Did she do it?

On a scale of one to ten, I would give this book a ten.  I loved this book because I love school and it is a realistic fiction book.  If you love school this is the book for you!!

This book is called Karen’s School Picture by Ann M. Martin and it is about Karen, two of her friends, a boy, and a teacher.  One day Karen was trying to see the board and she couldn’t see it very well.  Her teacher saw her papers and she got bad grades.  Two of her friends helped her but, it didn’t work very well.  Her mom saw her getting bad grades and she had to go to the eye doctor to see if she needed glasses.  She didn’t want glasses and she said that she would look like a dork.   The next day she went to school and this boy named Jimmy started to call her names, too.   The next day he was gone. The next day… guess what he had on?

On a scale of one to ten, I would give this book a ten.  It was one of my favorite books I have ever read.  The genre is realistic fiction.  If you love realistic fiction this is the book for you!!!

This book is called Captain’s Command by Ann Myers and is a historical fiction book.  It is about a girl, her father, and mother. There also was her sister, brother, uncle, grandma, and a dog.  One day it was during the the 1800′s and Gail got news from the war channel on the radio and it said that her dad was missing in action.  Everyone thought he was dead but Gail and her mom…  also sister, and brother prayed he wasn’t dead and they never gave up hope.  The next few weeks they got more news that their dad was dead and buried in the barn where he died.  The next day they went to there grandma’s house and told her the news and a surprise visitor, their uncle, was there to hear the news also.  Then they went home and saw their dog Captain laying on the carpet.  The next day Gail and Captain went to the post office to see if there was a letter confirming the news they found out their was an envelope for the family about the news.  They all read it but, the next day Gail went with Captain and their uncle was gone and it was like a snow storm and he was blind.  Captain and Gail went out looking in the cold.  First they found a footprint then a hand print then.  Then they found his cane in the snow.  Then by the water they found him. One foot was in the water and one foot was out of the water. Then Captain and Gail stole a wagon from a store and brought it back to him.  Was he still alive or was he dead?

On a scale of one to ten, I would give this book a six because it wasn’t my favorite book but it was pretty good.  I would recommend this book to any one who loves dog books and likes helping people.

This book is called All the Lovely Bad Ones by Mary Downing Hahn and is a fantasy book.  It is about two children and a grandma. One day Corey and Travis where packing for their grandma’s house when all of a sudden their mom said, “We have to ride the plane instead of the car.”  Corey and Travis were so excited to ride on a plane.  When they got to their grandma’s house they went inside and found a book called The Haunted Inn of Fox Hill.  Corey and Travis looked in it and saw different comments about  people who have stayed at Fox Hill.  They were talking about ghosts.  Corey and Travis were thinking if they could pretend to trick all the guest into thinking there were ghost in the inn.  They got away with it for about a week but, then they got caught.  Then the ghosts were awake.  Are they going to put them back to sleep?  If you want to know…….READ THIS BOOK!

On a scale of one to ten, I would give this book a ten!  I thought it was very interesting and provided a lot of different scenes in the book.  I would recommend this book to anyone who loves ghosts and are interested in ghosts!!!!
