Cabin on Trouble Creek was written by Jean Van Leeuwen and was published in 2004.  The time period was during westward expansion.  Cabin on Trouble Creek is about a boy and his brother and his dad that go to a new territory.  They start building a cabin.  While they are building they hear wolfs and get scared but their dad will help them cheer up.  Eventually he will have to start hunting for food for dinner.  Well lets just say you may think you know what will happen but you don’t.

This book was interesting but it was not that good.  I would give it a 4 1/2.  Also I would recommend it to anyone who does not have anything to read at the moment.

Poppy is written by Avi and published in 1995.  It was illustrated by Brian Floca.  Also it is a fantastic fantasy.  It is about a little mouse, named Poppy, who messes up her fellow mice’s chances of leaving their old home by being angry at the owl for the terrible thing he did.  She gets very embarrassed, when everyone kept on asking how the talk went with the owl.  Everyone was hoping she convinced the owl to let the mice to move to a new home, but Poppy was not successful.

This book was an amazing adventure that I enjoyed.  I think anyone who likes a good book with a surprise every now and then.  You will wonder where the author got the ideas.  My rating would be a 8 because it was OK but it was not my favorite book.  I would recommend it to others because it is good for anyone who has time for a good book.

101 Cool Science Experiments is written by Glen Singleton.  It was written in 2004 by Hinkler Books.  It is a informational book. The book is about 101 cool science experiments.  Some are easier than others and some are even so hard you need parents help but it’s worth it because they are really cool and amazing.

Did you know eggs are stronger than they appear.  You can bake ice cream without it melting.  Water is colder without a paper towel than with one.

This book was amazing I loved it so much.  I think anyone who will read it would love it.  So on a scale on 1 to 10, I would rate it a 10!  I think if your in to learning something new while having fun doing it than you will love it.

Dear America: A Journey to the New World, by Kathryn Lasky and published in September 2010 by Scholastic Inc., is a historical fiction book. It is a diary written by a girl named Mem. She travelled to America on the Mayflower with her father who was a friend of the Captain of the ship.

Mem did not have an easy time during the 40 days she was on the Mayflower. She was seasick, the mast of the ship broke, the bottom of the ship flooded, and much more. This was just the beginning.  When they arrive in America, her people have a lot to deal with because they have no food, no water, and no houses. They don’t have anything done for them and have to learn how to survive.  Her dad meets an Indian named Squanto who changes everything. If you want to know how he changes their lives, then read Dear America: A Journey to the New World.

This book was one of my favorite books and I would rate it a 10.  It helped me to understand history, feel what they felt when they discovered America, and made history fun.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and a good surprise every now and then. You don’t have to like history to enjoy this book.

Who Was Albert Einstein? was written by Jess M.Braille.  The genre is biography/nonfiction and it was published by Grosset and Dunlap in 2002.  Albert Einstein was a genius, a peaceful man, but not a great student.  He won got a Noble Peace Prize for having such good ideas.   Einstein’s discoveries led to the atomic bomb.  The atomic bomb is the most destructive weapon in the world.  The Nazis in Germany were killing Jewish people.  Einstein was Jewish and was not allowed to go back to his home in Germany.  The Nazis said he was spy and wanted to kill him.  Even though he was a peaceful man, Einstein wrote a letter to President Roosevelt and asked him to build an atomic bomb.  He knew the Nazis were trying to make an atomic bomb.  Einstein figured if the Nazis were the only place with an atomic bomb, they would destroy the world.  The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Japan.  Thousands of people died. Einstein felt horrible that he wrote the letter to President Roosevelt because he hated war and his weapon killed so many people.  He wrote in a letter that he didn’t know how the next war would be fought, but he was afraid it would destroy the world and we would be like cavemen afterwards because of his atomic bomb.

There are three facts I would like to tell you.  I would like to tell you that he dropped out of school.  He invented the world’s first atom bomb and got married twice.

I loved this book even though I didn’t think it would be that good.  It is an amazing book to read. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would choose 10.  It’s one of my favorite books I have read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read it is an amazing book that anyone would like.
