Spring Has Sprung

Hello reader! This short essay is spring in my eyes. First we’re going to go through the things I hear and smell, then what I see and feel. Then a short conclusion to put the cherry on top of the ice cream. Ok? If you want great detail and other really good qualities in writing, you’ve come to the correct place! GET READY FOR GREATNESS!

I hear the sounds of cars parking and a lawn mower chopping away at the grass in the distance. I hear the birds chirping their happy tune. I smell car exhaust as it flows around the airways. The smell of mulch and cow manure poison my nostrils. I smell the tree bark behind me and the piece of paper I write on. I lean over to smell a flower that has just bloomed, and then the green glades of grass turning at the breeze. Ifeel the rough tree bark and the mulch. I feel the paper and pencil I hold in my hand. I see some cars parking and somekids having a stick fight. I see a big brick wall right in front of me as well. I feel the soft petals of a flower nearby too. At my home, I see tall pine trees, and a swingset swinging slowly to the wind. Roses bursting with colors and orchards hanging on my fence. I smell burning rubber and barbeque sauce while my dad cooks on the grill. I see my brothersswinging on tree branches and green leaves trailing down mixing with the maple seeds. I see a wasp buzzing around me and I feel the cold breeze on my face.

I miss winter a lot now since I see how hot and annoying the bugs in spring are. The coming season may be worse, but hey,it’s not up to me.

 Dear Earth and Beyond,
Today during SSR  ( Sustained Silent Reading) I started reading FOUND. Book 1 in the series called The Missing, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, the author of the Among The Hidden series. Today I read the Prologue through chapter 3. It starts out with a flight attendant called Angela, she thinks she sees a plane that has it’s cockpit lights turned off, so she tells her boss, Monique. She starts yelling into the phone and the guys at control tower.  Angela goes into the plane and sees that each seat has one person in it. Thirty-six seats. Each of them containing a baby.

Thirteen years later, the book  is with 3 kids. Jonah, Chip, and Katherine. Jonah receives a letter with only six words on it, YOU ARE ONE OF THE MISSING. Jonah, Katherine ( Who is Jonah’s sister) and Chip, all think that it is just a prank. They all agree that the prank is horrible though. ( Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Jonah is adopted, and that him and Chip are in 7th grade, while Katherine is in 6th.) Then, later that day when Jonah, Katherine, and their parents are having dinner, the doorbell rings. It’s Chip. Jonah brings Chip up to his room and Chip has bad news. He got one of the same letters that Jonah did. Then, Chip reveals another troubling fact, his parents told him that he was adopted too.  Jonah tries to calm Chip down by telling him that  it’s just a prank. But he isn’t convinced. So here’s the problem and the possible solution. The problem is that Chip and Jonah need to find out why they are receiving these messages. I think the solution is to interrogate the kids they think are sending these messages, or, ask the post office where they picked up the mail. That is what I would’ve done.

Well, that’s pretty much how far I got today. In my opinion, I really like this book so far, I am really looking forward to reading the second book soon. I recommend this book to anybody that is a fan of action-adventure novels or that read the Among The Hidden series. I hope you enjoy this book, and if you do, comment! Well, c-ya.

                         Sincerely,

                          Ichigo

They should arive by air mail, or Arthur will drop them off at your houses, he’s pretty quick for an old cloud you know.

            Best Regards,

The Star-Reachers Club.

Chapter 1: Look at the stars.

Hi, I am Adam Thomas. Otherwise known as, the Cloud Jumper, Warrior of the Sky, and Cloud Warrior. I started out a regular kid, like any other kid. And it started out as a regular night, just a regular night. I was laying in the grass at night just looking at the sky again. The dark sky with stars like glow in the dark stickers, and the sky being the wall someone stuck them on.

” Hey Nikki, do you ever think think that there’s something else out there? Like something just more than being stuck out here laying in the grass every night staring at the sky…. When you could be in it?” I asked Nikki. She walked over to me and sat down. You could barely see her purple highlights in the dim moonlight. She used to be blonde but a few years ago she dyed her hair black. Mom and dad didn’t really like the idea, but she just said that she was an independent young adult and could make her own decisions.

” I think that Monster Energy has been driving you a bit loopy Adam. There’s nothing out there except oxygen and H2O! Besides, why would you want to go out there any ways! There is nothing out there, so just quit believing Adam.” Nikki said. I sighed. Maybe she was right. Maybe I do have to let go already, I mean seriously, how many twelve year olds do you know that want to go in the sky. Exactly.

” Well Nikki, can you look at the stars with me? Look at the stars THEN tell me that you don’t believe me.”  I said. She sat down next to me.

” Fine. But if I do you have to promise that you will let go. ok?” She stuck her hand out to me.

” Fine.”  I shook her hand. We stared at the sky for hours until my mom asked for us to come back in.

” See you tomorrow.” Nikki said.  I went to bed.

” Kid. Hey kid. Wake up. Hey you’re sister is here too. Oh don’t tell me you’re dead already we just took you here.” I heard. I felt someone tapping my cheeks, throwing my head back and forth. I grumbled.

” Five more minutes mom…. The theory of relativity can wait….” I said.

” Theory of relativity? I told you we shouldn’t of made this kid immortal!” I sprung to my feet.

” WHO WHAT WHERE HUH?”  I looked around. I saw a short green man with a long nose and yellow eyes hovering in front of me.

” So kid, welcome to the immortal cloud land utopia of Crekville!” The green man said. He had small wings on his feet and his back. He had a toga held up by a golden button with the words, King’s Royal Cloud Messenger.

” Cloud? IMMORTAL? UTOPIA?” I looked down and saw that i was standing on a giant piece of cotton, I mean a cloud.

” No. This isn’t real Nikki said so.” I said. I looked to Nikki who was getting her hair dyed again to white.

‘ I think I was wrong….” She said. She shrugged. I looked at what she was wearing, it was a pirate-like shirt with an emblem on the back. One of her stylists pressed the emblem and a backpack unfolded onto her back, but it was robotic and probably carried materials she needed. I looked into her eyes and I saw that they were orange, they used to be blue. I jogged to Nikki.

” What are you doing?” I asked. She turned around and some of her hair got caught in my mouth.

” I’m going on an adventure. I’m going to explore the sky as one of the King’s royal Privateer’s.” She said. I sighed.

” You should go back to green dude over there, he isn’t getting paid you know.” I walked over to the green guy.

” Ok, what’s up.” I said. He turned around and looked at me with those creepy yellow eyes.

” We are up. Listen, go to the King’s Cloud Palace and meet up with the other kids that were chosen to come here.” He told me. I walked across the fluffy village taking in the sights, thinking, wow really? I got to the palace and walked up the granite steps, sometimes I wondered how it was possible that none of us sank through the cloud, then again, I guess I am immortal.

” Hello!” I yelled. My voice echoed in the labyrinth of a palace. I saw some kids heads turn towards me. There were three other kids there.

” Come here Adam, we have been waiting for you.” The King said. I walked slowly to the king’s throne.  The palace seemed to be completely made out of granite.

” You are late.” He said to me. I blushed in front of the other kids.

” My reputation follows me.” I winked at a girl next to me she rolled her eyes.

” Too bad of that. All of the other children have already been given their positions. Alica is a royal knight, Arnold is a messenger, and Jason is a flyer. The only role we have left for a boy like you is Cloud Jumper. A role of much adrelanine. It is a, hmm, how do I do this. Messenger and warrior.” He said.

” But…” I sighed. He hanged me a small suit with an emblem on the back like Nikki’s. The suit was just a thin white shirt with some black on it and that emblem on the back. Then, the king handed me a metallic looking sword with two bars of metal bulging up from the bottom, but above the handle. Black symbols were engraved in the sword and I found out that a button makes the sword portable. Then, he gave me a thing to put the sword when it’s portable in.

” Cool.” I said. He chuckled.

” Your first assignment will be a spying mission. Find a route to Lord Kairan Island and gather information about the villagers from there. Remember, anything goes as a Cloud Jumper.” I nodded.

” Ok.” I sprinted out. I looked for Nikki and saw her next to a pirate ship. But it wasn’t an ordinary one that you would see in like Pirates of the Caribbean, it was one with gears outside and a steam engine in front. And it had purple thrusters on the back of it.

” Nikki!” I yelled.

” What is it Adam. I have to go soon.” I nodded.

” I got my first assignment as a Cloud Jumper!” She congratulated me. I kept running along until I bumped into a villager.

” WATCH IT!” He yelled. I stopped.

” You watch it!” We circled eachother.

” I work for the train station!” He said.

” I don’t care! But you should give me a  ticket to Lord Kairan Island.” I said. He laughed.

” Train leaves at twelve. I am not giving you a ticket.” He chuckled. I waited a few hours until I heard the train. I looked off the cloud and waited for the train to pass by me,

” Adrelanine junkie would be a better name.”  I looked down and kept waiting. And to think I used to be a shy kid in the corner of the lunch room eating alone.

” HERE GOES NOTHIIIIINNNG!” I yanked out my sword from it’s holder and unfolded it. I pressed the emblem on my back and it made a parachute pack. I guess it adapts to stuff. I dug my sword into the train and held on the sword tightly. My hair was blowing in the wind while I was moving my hands down the sword trying to get on the train. Then, the sword got loose while I was still yanking on it. I flew down the train trying to get a good grip on my sword. While this was happening, I noticed what was engraved into it,  Cloud Jumper X, Disappeared in action, last scene on 164 Train. My heart stopped, but then I noticed something, THE TRAIN! I dug my sword into the train and watched sparks fly up from it while it was being dragged through the train slowly. I was almost at the end of the train when my sword finally got jammed into it.

” Cloud Jumper X? In your face! Cloud Jumper XI is owning you!” I yelled. I climbed up my sword and mobilized it. I started walking on the train. I looked around the beautiful sky I was walking on. Then, we finally arrived at the island. I looked around and the train actually seemed to slow down for a short period of time.

” Wow, this place looks sick.” I said. The train came to a stop and flung me off. I tapped the emblem on my shirt and felt metal boxes  come across my back. Then I felt a parachute open up behind me for whatever reason.

” Oh boy.” I said.

Chapter 2: The Interrogations.

When I first got to Lord Kairan Island I didn’t think it would be so gorgeous. Fruits from palm trees were dangling down and were being held that way by a sticky substance that looked like slime. I was tempted to touch it, but then I remembered I came here not to observe. I came here for a reconnaissance mission. I looked around for any villager that looked like they had a lot of information. I tapped on the emblem on my back again to bring the parachute in. If the king had given me a bluetooth or something that would’ve been a bit too futuristic. Maybe he sent Cloud Jumper X to do this same mission, but on the way there, or on the way back, he disappeared. Into the clouds. I thought about it for a minute but then I realized I should get back on task. I walked over to the pedestrian.

” Hello madame. What is your name?” I asked the withered old woman.

” Mary Lou. What may your name be?” She asked me.

” Adam.” I said. She shook my hand.

“  It’s a pleasure.” She said.

” Can I ask you about this kingdom?” I asked.

” Oh, I do not know much except that this is a beautiful land. But the man at the counter shop knows everything about this place. He jokes about that he was on a reconnaissance mission when he was twenty.” I stopped. I nodded to the woman and walked to the Counter Shop. I took my sword out of its holder and put it on the table.

” What’s this!” He asked. He turned around and locked his eyes on the sword.

” Where did you find this….” He asked me. I pointed to the words engraved into my sword.

” You’re the new Cloud Jumper ain’t you?” He said.

” Yeah…. Cloud Jumper X.” I said to him. He pushed the sword away.

” I disappeared for a reason. So I wouldn’t have to be involved with the king! He was going to send me to tame the Beast of the Skies! It’s a job for the Sky Pirates! He only sent me because the Pirates were captured by the beast! The only way to defeat it, is to tame it! If not, you will be a prisoner of it for the rest of eternity!” He said. I looked at him with a disappointed face.

” So, you left your people because you chickened out?” I asked him.

” I can’t go back. I left my sword, your sword, at the king’s throne when I told him I was not going to tame the beast. He banished me from the kingdom. I guess since he didn’t want the Cloud Jumpers to know what REALLY happened, he wrote that on the real sword.” I grabbed my sword and put it in its holder.

” Wait…. Nikki’s a Sky Pirate! How long do you think it takes until the Sky Pirates finally encounter the real beast!” I asked.

” About five hours.” I checked my watch. It was four hours since I last saw Nikki, and she already took off. I have to find her and warn her.

” WHAT’S THE FASTEST WAY TO THE SKY!” I exclaimed.

” Jumping. Wait  for the ship to pass, and jump. We’re the highest island. Either that, or, you can set that gizmo on your back to thrusters, or wings. It’s either one of those two, or jump.” I thought about something. I mean, really, I just jumped off the mainland, onto a speeding train, dug my sword, excuse me, Cloud Jumper X’s sword, and ended up here. Now, he tells me to jump again, but first, wait for a Sky Pirate Ship pass by me, THEN jump onto it.
