Bone in My Backyard

There were lots of weeds in Mom’s front garden.  So I thought I should weed the garden.  I went outside and got a shovel.  I went to the front garden and started digging up weeds and then I hit a rock.  It seemed hollow.  I dug for a very long time until I saw the rock was ivory colored which is rare.  So I dug more and the rock started to look like a bone.  Then I dug more and more until the whole bone was showing.  It was a big rough ivory-colored bone three foot long and I didn’t want to pick it up.

I ran into the house and went upstairs to tell what I found.  First I told my sister, Gretchen, and Mom but where was Dad?  We found him in the computer room where we should have looked first.  We all went outside to the front garden.  I said “the bone might be a dinosaur bone“.

We knew there was an Archeology Department at Binghamton University so we called the department.  Dr. Finklepocker, the archeologist, asked “What did you find?”  We said all together “a bone”.   The archaeologist, Dr. Finklepocker, said he would be there in 20 minutes with his truck.  Twenty minutes he was here in his truck. He was happy, humble and enthusiastic.  He had brown eyes, red hair, and a long beard and was tall and slim.  When he came he asked, “Where is the bone?” in an excited voice.  We walked over with him to the bone.  He said “That is an extremely unusual bone”.  He said, “It’s an Apalasaurs bone and they are really rare in America”.  If this bone was found here there might be a whole skeleton.  He showed us a poster of an Apalasaurs.  Dr. Finklepocker took the bone and dragged it to his truck.  He was going to take the bone to a lab for more investigation.

I never thought I would find a bone in my yard.  You probably wouldn’t expect me to run into a bone while gardening.  Maybe I will run into more bones while gardening next time.

Have you ever heard of a Plecosuperstisus (Ple-co-super-sti-sus)?Plecosuperstisuses lived in prehistoric time and are still living today. Their existence is threatened because their habitat is being destroyed by humans. These animals are not dangerous to other animals because they are herbivores.

A Plecosuerstisus looks very peculiar. They have caber tooth teeth, plumage on their heads, pointy ears, a platted neck and body, lion and elephant feet, a peacock tail, platted wings, wanuts on the ridge of its neck and finally a giraffe neck. Plecosuperstisuses are very unique.

A Plecosuperstisus makes a peculiar noise for such a big animal. It squeals like a Guinea Pig. They make this noise by humming loudly. This noise is made when they are threatened.

Plecosuperstisuses live in warm climates near the equator. They live in the rain forests of Africa, South America, the Canary Islands, the Bahamas and Bermuda.

Plecosuperstisuses are herbivores. They eat grass, watermelons, oranges, figs, palms, coconuts, ccranberries and mandarin oranges.

You would never see any animal more interesting than a Plecosuperstisus.
